Lots of positive sentiment, which I suppose is the Grauniad's way of saying Greece has been hoisted from the gutter and will soon start contributing to the Union, just after they pay off Deutsche Bank, the IMF and/or everyone else they scammed money from, which won't be within long haul distance of the proposed 2020. Or, it could mean Greece won't be coming for more free money right now due to a new pack of discreet measures to prevent default, at least until its EU taskmasters compute how much they can throw into the Aegean after May's golden handshake if any.

Why do I feel the Grauniad is not to be trusted?

Also not sure what austerity Greece had over these pauper years, seeing as the people voted anti-austerity and are in hock for some 300bn much of which went toward paying for German stuff that would otherwise be rusting away behind giant screens in some desolate part of northern Europe, though it makes sense for this propaganda rag to pimp the image of a strong and stable Europe (not sure where I heard that before) where everyone prospers by working for the common good.

While it looks increasingly that Britain is moving toward a dark period, the EU is a crazed monster lurching into far worse.

I don’t pretend to have the answers and wasn't passionate, voted leave with a shrug, so in your eyes I must be thick and or ill informed and probably more than just a bit racist. But no remainers I've spoken with, generally professionals and career people over serial losers, have managed to explain why they voted remain, using actual facts. Why not? Because material facts in the public arena during those weeks were buried in stats, exaggeration, manipulation, lies, subterfuge and various other politically acceptable forms of deceit. If this is wrong, tell us which facts you knew before the referendum date, and how it was that only the dumbest of the dumb missed out on access to your impeccable sources.

It's easy to say that more people voted against you because they didn't know what you obviously knew, but it's not so easy to admit simply and honestly that your lot lost the debate because they weren't persuasive enough, or more accurately that they didn't lie enough. Maybe you lost the debate because you called anyone thinking to vote leave a thicko, which tends not to endear people to your cause, and you probably also lost one or two votes when Cameron wrote a script for Obama to parrot, threatening the end of the world if they leave. Are we on the same page yet?

Note that there's nothing wrong with voting on a broad principle without knowing all there is to know on a particular issue; it happens all the time. You don't need to understand in the finest detail about a set of fiscal or foreign or other policies to believe it probably won't work because those promoting it are self-interested weasels with a string of fails behind them. In fact most people vote on principle after weighing the information they have or believe, and rarely based on what they're told by a politician or the side of a bus.

Ashcroft showed that the main reason leave voters gave was not immigration, but that they believed the laws in Britain should be made in Britain by Brits. That was a good reason to leave. Nobody needs and few have an intimate knowledge of how Brussels works or how legislators end up with their final product, or even how they frame the outline on some of their more absurd tracks. Is it difficult to understand the principle of sovereignty?

That was pre-referendum; what happened next was unpredictable for a number of reasons, not least that there was no precedent to work with.

But the real reason Brexit has turned out to be such a shitstorm is not because the majority are thick and ill informed, as you hawk, but because our leaders sacrificed all the potential benefits of Brexit for short term political gains, which to date have been a shambles since none of their cunning plans have panned out making HMgov a laughing stock not to be taken seriously. Instead of focussing on this critical issue facing the country, they've been busy either clinging to power or positioning themselves for a power grab with a gun to the head of the country, since most voters however thick or ill informed know the alternative is a Corbyn that would turn the nation inside out within a single term.

Do you remember the sheriff in Blazing Saddles putting a gun to his head as the angry mob approached, and threatening to shoot? Sure it was funny, but the underlying message was a threat not to him but to the people, that even though they might be angry enough to lynch him, without him they would be at the mercy of far worse.

As it stands, while May fluffs her way into early retirement and a brief mention in the history books, the only politicians saying what they actually think are the likes of Farage, Johnson and Rees-Mogg. What does that tell you, anything? You may not like what they say, so your preferred response may be to call them clowns or more likely f*cking clowns, but at least you know what they think because they're telling you, while others are making it up as they go along. And you do profess to being a reasonable and democratic person, even when confronted with differing views, right?

So while we go to town slagging off the Tories, how would you describe the other side of the Brexit coin haunted by people like Juncker, Tusk, Barnier and Verhofstadt? Are these our friends? I thought they are failed politicians mocked in their own country that found a way to become chief worms in a monster rotten apple.

The real reason Brexit is such a shitstorm is that Brexit was all about destructive criticism of the EU with no constructive alternative plan put forward that could be debated as a better proposal. As I have said since the start, if leaving the EU and trading under WTO was a better alternative then it would have happened already. The problem is that even those that have passionately supported Brexit have no constructive alternative to offer.

Quite simply, one doesn't leave one's job without finding another one first. One certainly doesn't leave one's job only to ask for it back with better conditions.

The UK have little alternative but to agree to EU conditions to secure the withdrawal agreement in October. The UK and the EU both know this, it's just a matter of how to explain this in a dignified manner.
