    GOPer Busted in Bathroom

Wow...I didn't know about foot signals in airport bathrooms. You learn something everday. He's previously stated he's not running for another term so the seat is in play for the next round of elections.

The Idaho Republican arrested June 11 in an MSP restroom entered a guilty plea Aug. 8.

    Last update: August 27, 2007 – 9:27 PM

U.S. Sen. Larry Craig, an Idaho Republican, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in Minnesota this month after being arrested by a plainclothes police officer investigating complaints of lewd conduct in a men's restroom at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Craig was arrested at the airport on June 11, according to Roll Call, a Capitol Hill newspaper. According to police reports, Craig kept watching the undercover police officer through a crack in the bathroom stall, Roll Call reported. Craig then entered the next-door stall and placed his luggage against the opening under the stall door.

"My experience has shown that individuals engaging in lewd conduct use their bags to block the view from the front of their stall," said the officer, Sgt. Dave Karsnia.

The report continued: "At 1216 hours, Craig tapped his right foot. I recognized this as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. Craig tapped his toes several times and moves his foot closer to my foot. ... The presence of others did not seem to deter Craig as he moved his right foot so that it touched the side of my left foot which was within my stall area."

The report said that Craig swiped his hand beneath the stall divider several times and that Karsnia showed his police identification under the stall.
Roll Call reported that Craig was detained about 45 minutes and questioned by officers at the Airport Police Operations Center. At one point, police reports said, Craig handed the arresting officer a business card that identified him as a U.S. senator and said, "What do you think about that?"

    and....

Craig has been one of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's top Senate supporters, serving as a Senate liaison for the campaign since February. As word spread of Craig's guilty plea, a Romney campaign spokesman, Matt Rhoades, said in a statement: "Senator Craig has stepped down from his role with the campaign. He did not want to be a distraction and we accept his decision."

You'd have to ask yourself how a cop ends up with the job of smoking (pun intended) out wooftas in public toilets.

Did he ask for it or did he piss off a superior he really shouldn't have ?

Was he bang to rights? Yes.

I can't think of anything much more discomforting than knowing some bloke is giving you the come-on while you're trying to take a dump. There's a time & a place for it & it's not in a public toilet. They have closed most of the public toilets here for this very reason, I believe they call it 'cottaging'. It's not on.

Update. Extra, Extra, read all about it: don't care what his bent is, but the hypocrisy if so. And, he hadn't announced retiring as previously mentioned in the press.

    Updated: 5:27 a.m. PT Aug 28, 2007

WASHINGTON - Idaho Sen. Larry Craig, who has voted against gay marriage and opposes extending special protections to gay and lesbian crime victims, finds his political future in doubt after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from complaints of lewd conduct in a men's room.

The conservative three-term senator, who has represented Idaho in Congress for more than a quarter-century, is up for re-election next year. He hasn't said if he will run for a fourth term in 2008 and was expected to announce his plans this fall.
The seat will still stay with the elephants, no matter what, though.

    new details....

    Sexuality rumors denied
A political science professor in Idaho said Craig's political future was in jeopardy. And a spokesman for the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, Hannah August, said Craig's guilty plea "has given Americans another reason not to vote Republican" next year.

The married Craig, 62, has faced rumors about his sexuality since the 1980s, but allegations that he has engaged in gay sex have never been substantiated. Craig has denied the assertions, which he calls ridiculous.
The arrest changes that dynamic, said Jasper LiCalzi, a political science professor at Albertson College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho. He cited the House page scandal that drove Florida Rep. Mark Foley from office.
"There's a chance that he'll resign over this," LiCalzi said. "With the pressure on the Republican Party, he could be pressured to resign. If they think this is going to be something that's the same as Mark Foley — the sort of 'drip, drip, drip, there's more information that's going to come out' — they may try to push him out."

Hitler's inner circle was full of homos, too. Is there some sort of pattern here? It's also scary that this guy is close to Mitt Romney. I wonder which one of the two is the pitcher and which one is the catcher?

beware of republicans spouting the term "family values".

in the past year alone, we've had...

    this self loathing hypocrite
    mark foley
    ted haggard
    the senator from louisiana
mccain's florida chair in a public bathroom

btw, did anyone notice the first thing craig said at his press conference yesterday...."i'd like to thank you for coming out...."

it will be interesting to see how long craig can stay in office.....he's just another reason for conservative christians to stay home next november.

How have they managed to link this to the Democrats? More importantly, how many times have they managed to squeeze in phrases like: "liberal appeasement"; "cut and run" and; "freedom haters"?

Could make quite an interesting drinking game out of this actually.

Fox seems to be spinning this for Mit Romney, saying he will clean up all these Republican sex and money scandals if elected.

When it comes down to it, I don't give a damn the guys a part time Fag.

But him being a Conservative senator pushing Christian family values and all that, that makes it funny. And just another example of the hypocricy of politics, at least US politics.

In the UK and Europe there are several Gay politicians, who feel no need to deny it or make an issue out of it.
