    ^ I think Cujo is just being a fookin' coont. The USA competes in lots of international sport competitions ... boxing, rugby, soccer, wrestling, track & field, hockey, shooting, volleyball, curling ....

    About the only sport I can think of off the top of my head we absolutely don't participate in is cricket.

    But to be fair, the US is up there in boxing and other sports.

    Cael Sanderson the greatest collegiate champion in US history at 159-0 and 4 national championships went on to win a Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling.

    Wrestling is a good example of the USA having a great wrestling infrastructure system in place. Problem is we focus on folkstyle while the rest of the world does freestyle and Greco-Roman.

    Like Soccer? That is a gay sport for pussies who flop to get red cards. In the Olympics America is dominate. American Football is a much harder hitting sport than Rugby and if you want to say otherwise just look at the amount of Americans that die from concussions over the years. The pads are armour it encourages players to hit in away that you could never understand unless you played the game.

    The only sports the Yanks excell at (I mean field team sports, not track, shooting chess etc) are their own gridiron and baseball.
    Never see them at world competitions. Rugby world cup, soccer world cup, rugby league international competitions, cricket (test or one day) international competitions.
    Not a yank team in sight.
    I suppose they figure that if they only play with one another at least at the end of the day they can say a yank won.

    I suppose it makes sense.
    are there international gridiron or baseball competitions?

    ^That's pretty much bullshit. You've selected soccer, which Americans think is for High School girls, rugby, which has no history in the US until very recently and a very limited following, and cricket, which is only played by Brits and their former colonies. You're making a stupid argument, not backed up by fact, but only by prejudice.

    The USA did better than Australia at the last World Cup.

    Well please name me a team field sport that's not specifically American (I.E. baseball or gridiron) in which American teams seriously compete. (competitively)

    Because we don't play those sports. When you grow up in America you play a combination of the following sports;

    Baseball
    Football
    Hockey (mainly in the northeast and northern central states)
    Basketball
    Wrestling

    Some schools are more wealthy and will offer things like swimming, tennis, cross country etc.

    Sports that are not played in America;

    Cricket (literally unheard of in America)
    Rugby (played in some "clubs" by college students but not common)

    Soccer is growing in popularity but is mostly still considered a girls sport in the US.

    So the bottom line is we can't compete in sports that we don't play.

    Too easy ... lacrosse. Just as much a Canadian sport as it is American.

    Not to shabby showing for the USA in most recent Worlds Championships:

    a toxic mix of corruption and hypocrisy...

    Here's a thought experiment: Imagine the reaction from Breitbart, Steve Bannon, and top White House Stephen Miller if this took place under another administration. "The Kushner family came to the United States as refugees, worked hard and made it big — and if you invest in Kushner properties, so can you. That was the message delivered Saturday by White House senior adviser Jared Kushner's sister Nicole Kushner Meyer to a ballroom full of wealthy Chinese investors in Beijing," per the Washington Post. "Over several hours of slide shows and presentations, representatives from the Kushner family business urged Chinese citizens gathered at a Ritz-Carlton hotel to consider investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in a New Jersey luxury apartment complex that would help them secure what's known as an investor visa. The potential investors were advised to invest sooner rather than later in case visa rules change under the Trump administration. 'Invest early, and you will invest under the old rules,' one speaker said. The tagline on a brochure for the event: 'Invest $500,000 and immigrate to the United States.'"
