In the follow up to my post below ...

A man who smashed a lemon meringue pie into the face of QANTAS chief executive Alan Joyce yesterday during a business forum in Perth says he wanted to make a statement about same-sex marriage.

Tony Overheu, a former farmer, walked onto the stage and launched the pie at Mr Joyce while he was addressing a crowd of about 500 people at a Hyatt business breakfast.

Police have charged the 67-year-old with providing false details, but Mr Joyce told reporters today he intended to press assault charges.

"The police are continuing their investigation and my intention is to send a message that this type of behaviour isn't acceptable and that I will have every intention of pressing charges," he said.

"I have every intention to continue to be vocal on those social and community issues.

"I'm a big believer in the great Australian expression a fair government it's all about giving people equality.
"Qantas has always spoken up on gender issues, on LGBTI issues, on Indigenous issues and we will continue to do so and no attempt at bullying us into suppressing our voice will work."
"It's important for our shareholders, our employees, and our customers. It's called good corporate social responsibility.

F*ck off Joyce ... you don't speak for me.

    Well done that Farmer.

The ring is incomplete, representing the "gap" in equality between same-sex couples and their heterosexual peers. In a series of video advertisements, straight allies are encouraged to wear the rings "until we all belong".

"They're showing us that their commitment to the issue is deepening. They know this is good for their employees, it is good for their customers and it is good for Australia."

    Story

Are we really to believe that Multinational Corporate Entities have the core issue at heart?

Or, more likely, they see this a movement which differentiates themselves from others and shows they have a compassionate heart to Social Issues. The Advertising Companies have a term for it ... 'point of difference marketing'*

    FFS ... Banks with a heart ...

A final quote from the story above which is a little closer to the truth ...

"The 5000 staff at Qantas who lost their jobs a few years ago and the 200 staff who lost their jobs at ANZ Bank last year would be very disappointed to learn those companies couldn't afford to keep them but have the money for these types of campaigns.

Senator Abetz said Australians should have no doubt campaigns on same-sex marriage were funded by higher prices and job losses.

"I think Australians are getting fed up with some big business CEOs constantly trying to wave their PC credentials rather than getting on and delivering the services consumers expect at a reasonable price," he said.

    * Point of difference. Point of difference refers to the factors of goods or services that establish differentiation. Differentiation is the way in which the goods or services of a company differ from its competitors. Indicators of the point of difference's success would be increased customer benefit and brand loyalty.

What was the farmer upset about? That men can get married but he can't marry his prize ewe?

not too difficult to speculate: he's straight, white and wants things to be as they've always been...rather than a harshly worded letter to the editor (or a post on TD), he decided to take direct action to express his dismay at the pansiness of Qantas' leadership. Real men, after all, throw pies when upset...

    Fake smiles.
    Poor little boy looks traumatized.
Children should not be experimented on.
Take the poor lad away and have a normal, loving, functional family adopt him.

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce (pictured) is gay and an open supporter of marriage equality. He recently had a pie thrown in his face at a corporate breakfast
100% bent, he has that tell tale, gay birth defect queer look, one which transcends race.

More proof of the moral depravity of the German nation, and that there really is a global government, and it is issuing the exact same laws worldwide

Merkel drops opposition, clearing way for same-sex marriage in Germany

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has dropped her opposition to same-sex marriage, giving gay and lesbian groups reason to cheer Tuesday while depriving opposition parties of a key campaign issue three months before elections.

Speaking at a forum Monday evening, Merkel said she was open to a vote of conscience on the issue, in which lawmakers are freed from toeing the party line — and in which the reform would almost certainly pass.
Previously, the leader of the center-right Christian Democrats (CDU) had repeatedly voiced her personal reservations about full marriage rights, including joint adoption, for same-sex couples, citing "the well-being of the children."
Merkel's shift comes as polls show that large majorities of German voters, and all other mainstream parties, are in favor of allowing same-sex marriage, which has been legalized in many other major Western democracies in recent years.
Germany currently allows so-called civil unions, which were legalized in 2001 under a green-left government. They grant homosexual couples equal rights in many areas such as tax to inheritance rules, but do not allow joint adoptions.
Merkel's about-turn opens the door for her CDU to form potential alliances after the September 24 vote, with either current partners the Social Democrats (SPD), the Greens or the Free Democrats (FDP), who all favor gay marriage.
Only the populist and anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD) party opposes same-sex marriage, pushing instead what it calls traditional "family values" and urging German women to have more children.
Merkel said her thinking on the issue had shifted after a "memorable experience" when she recently met a lesbian couple who care for eight foster children in her Baltic coast electorate.
Merkel used a characteristically vague formulation to drop the bombshell news: "I would rather like to shift the discussion in a direction of a vote of conscience rather than imposing anything from the top."
In her comments at the forum presented by the women's magazine Brigitte, Merkel voiced a policy position which she had previously cleared with her conservative Bavarian allies the CSU, according to national news agency DPA.
    'No way back'

The words sparked a flurry of reactions on social media overnight, with the #EheFuerAlle (MarriageForAll) hashtag trending on Twitter, and the news dominated morning radio and TV bulletins.
CDU lawmaker Stefan Kaufmann tweeted: "Thank you, Angela Merkel! How liberating! If it were up to me, we could have the vote this week!"
The head of the government's anti-discrimination agency, Christina Lueders, said that lesbians and gays "should not have to wait for many more months" for a decision.
She said a survey by her office had found that 83 percent of Germans favor same-sex marriage.
A demand for an urgent vote before the Bundestag starts its summer break Friday evening was echoed by many other MPs.
"Anyone who really wants equality should now allow a vote on marriage for all," said Renate Kuenast of the Greens, who have campaigned for gay rights for decades.
The leader of the group of gay and lesbian lawmakers within the CDU-CSU bloc, Alexander Vogt, hailed Merkel's comments as a "paradigm shift" and told AFP that "now there is no way back."
FDP leader Christian Lindner, whose pro-business party campaigns for politically and economically liberal policies, also welcomed Merkel's shift as a "good signal" in line with modern values.
Merkel's comments came after the SPD declared Sunday that same-sex marriage would be a red line issue for any future coalition.
Over the past four years, Merkel's coalition government, in which the SPD is the junior partner, had rejected voting on several gay-marriage bills submitted by the upper house, the opposition Greens and the far-left Linke parties.
The SPD's top election candidate, former European parliament president Martin Schulz, sought to recapture the initiative Tuesday and vowed that his party would force a vote on the issue before the end of the week.

Well I'm not as interesting as someone who lived in a compound, maintained unmarked scout vehicles to intercept undesirables that called ahead of time, and believes that he'll live to 150+ years old, granted.

So yeah, I guess that does make me kinda dull and boring in comparison.

Maybe by the time you reach 150 years old you'll have learnt to recognize sarcasm.

I doubt it though. Asperger's is for life, even if that life is extraordinarily long.

Never quite understood that one myself.

They do seem to spend an inordinate amount of time and effort in thinking about it, right down to the finest details, though.
