What everybody knew already, did it need a Congressional Hearing?

Lawyers for Manafort had been negotiating to prevent him from testifying in public, but those talks appear to have broken down. Grassley and Feinstein said Manafort could still skirt a public hearing “if he would be willing to agree to production of documents and a transcribed interview.”

when kislyak arrives for his debriefing at the kremlin, he and putin are going to laugh so hard they'll probably we their pants.
kushner forgot meetings, doesn't remember meeting people, didn't complete national security forms correctly, etc...
the fundamental question that needs to be asked....what in his past experience qualified him to even be in a position to forget, not remember, and not complete all of these very important meetings, people and forms?
hint: nothing.
except that he's trump's son-in-law.
trump has been crushing AG session the last few days.
calling him "weak" and "besieged" and that he wouldn't have nominated him if he could do it all again.
remember, this is HIS attorney general....but he's in full on attack mode.
just one man's opinion, but it seems clear that he's trying shame sessions into resigning so that he can say, "oh, i didn't fire him....he resigned".
Trump's talking about Giuliani as a replacement for Sessions.
Defo. He has already fired on person in connection with 'that Russian thing' so probably doesn't want to be seen to be firing a second over it as well (although that's basically exactly what he's doing).Originally Posted by raycarey
I have heard his name mentioned but have seen nothing about Trump talking about it. Do you have a link?
Trump will not fire Sessions because it will raise the accusation of obstruction of justice. His only choice is to torment him with public humiliation. He seems to take great pleasure in this kind of petty vindictiveness.

Sessions was one of (if not the) first to endorse Trump.
Salient lesson in there for others that have also on how Trump treats those no longer useful to him.
Seems like it'd be a real stupid move for Giuliani...or anybody for that matter.Originally Posted by Humbert

CNN story says not true. Doesn't sound as though Giuliani is siding with Trump in regards to Sessions.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Monday swatted away a report that he is a contender to replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and said Sessions made the right decision to recuse himself from the Russia investigation.
Giuliani said there is no truth to a report by Axios that said Trump has recently raised the possibility of tapping Giuliani to replace Sessions, whom the President referred to as "beleaguered" on Monday, days after publicly rebuking Sessions for recusing himself from the federal investigation into Russian election meddling in the 2016 campaign.

If Sessions was fired does anyone believe he could get a new nominee confirmed by the Senate? The only way he could do it is through a recess appointment. If he did he would ignite a crisis.
Trump doesn't have support for getting rid of Sessions from his 'base' it seems. Breitbart is now attacking him. WOW.
Trump's attack on Sessions over Clinton prosecution highlights his own weak stance
President Trump’s decision Tuesday to attack Attorney General Jeff Sessions over Sessions’ “position” on Hillary Clinton’s various scandals only serves to highlight Trump’s own hypocrisy on the issue — and is likely to fuel concerns from his base who see Sessions at the best hope to fulfill Trump’s immigration policies.

Damning indeed.

It turns out if Trump did draft a knowingly false statement for his son it could be considered obstruction of justice.
