I suppose if the average Thai earns around B10,000 a month, then a westerner should earn from 100,000B a month or more, seeing as the average westerner is capable of doing about 10 times more work in the same time, doesn't require constant supervision, doesn't spend all day on the phone to friends, doesn't need feeding 6 times a day and can think for themselves.

some Thai workers may appear lazy as they are paid ridiculously low salaries thus this is to be expected.

However in shops etc.. the staff seem as friendly/ helpful as would be the norm in the west.


The effort one puts into a job should, in all reality, be proportional to the wages received.(also taking into account the cost of living)

I was offered work here doing draughting work on the BTS/MRT projects because the architects knew that I was as valuable as a handful of the Thai technicians. But, as they could only pay the Thai rate 20-25k a month, I had to decline.

I agree that Thais get paid low wages, but most get what they deserve.

Yes, there are many good Thai professionals, but quite simply none of them compare with their western counterparts.
