The President's claimed success rate was thus over 97% to that point in the war.

My point was that you can't believe the propaganda. It seems like the "real" number is only 9%.
Some of the "successful hits" turned out to be one patriot hitting another.

The Patriot Missile. Performance in the Gulf War Reviewed

After a 10-month investigation in 1992 by the House Government Operations Subcommittee on Legislation and National Security, the subcommittee concluded there was little evidence to prove the Patriot hit more than a few Scud missiles launched by Iraq.

Another 1992 investigation done by the General Accounting Office found that only 9 percent of the Patriot-Scud engagements "are supported by the strongest evidence that an engagement resulted in a warhead kill." (The GAO defined "the strongest evidence" as instances in which Scud debris or radar data indicated that a Scud was destroyed or disabled after a Patriot detonated near it.) Except in 9 percent of the cases, the GAO report said the Army could prove only that "the Patriots came close to the Scuds, not that they destroyed them."

Both reports, as well as studies by analysts (in particular MIT scientists George N. Lewis and Theodore A. Postol) concluded that Gulf War television pictures showing Patriots chasing Scuds were misleading. The television images didn't fully reflect that a number of the Patriots were just wounding Scuds or pushing them off course; big chunks of both missiles then fell to the ground. In Israel, the amount of damages and casualties increased after the Patriots were deployed there.

So you posted material from the GAO saying "Data Does Not Exist to Conclusively Say How Well Patriot Performed -- Report by General Accounting Office, September 1992, B-250335." and use that to try and say it is conclusive? Mind you, Bush is a different story, and no-one that I know said they were 41/42.

The Patriot wasn't designed to incinerate incoming missiles, but to stop them reaching their targets.

Now admittedly half the time the fucking things were useless, but I used to get a call when they started a lorry in Iraq, because they alerted on every heat signature, and the rough figures I quoted are approximately right. Saying it was unsuccessful because the missile came down in a populated area or bits landed on someone's head is a matter of opinion.

As a military tool, the Patriot rendered Saddams scuds effectively useless.

I have a piece of one somewhere, it came down a few km from my home at the time.

It was headed for an airbase south of us.

Agree, Iran could pinpoint these missiles and Trump has warned Iran, step out of line you will get it, that is why
they didnt hurt anyone, also, Iran gave them USA plenty of warning as to what they would hit, no one hurt, nothing really damaged of importance, no retaliation.

Iran probably did give advance notice for the army bases, lob a few missiles, nobody hurt and they save face, just a pity they didn't extend the same courtesy to the Ukrainian plane which got about 10 seconds warning.

What it was deliberately targeted, of that there is no doubt, but they didn't know what they were shooting down.

Bit like the Russians and MH17.

    Truth:

Some White People Think a White Porn Star is Better Than a Black Ivy Grad

First lady Melania Trump with former first lady Michelle Obama. ( (Official White House Photo by Chuck Kennedy)

There is an old joke in the Black community. What do white people call a black man with a PhD. The answer? N**ger. The point is that no matter what black people achieve, certain white people will still think they are superior to them. Unfortunately, that attitude is still prevalent.

Here are two recent examples. First lady Melania Trump was named a “Woman of Distinction” by Palm Beach University, a small Florida Christian college. Melania Trump is a former model, who also did softcore porn, and is now married to a man old enough to be her father. She’s also a college dropout. I can’t think of anything notable she’s done in her life or as first lady.

As the wife of the president, she’s lead the ridiculous “Be Best’ campaign which is supposed to teach children about bullying. Meanwhile, she’s married to Donald Trump, a man who specializes in taunting his opponents with insulting nicknames and recently bullied 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg!

But this kind of insanity is not unusual. During the 2016 campaign, I saw a focus group where a white woman said that she couldn’t wait until Melania was first lady so she could bring class back to the White House. So in her mind, Michelle Obama, a law school graduate who attended two Ivy League colleges, was less classy than Melania, the former nude model and trophy wife.
Sorry, but last time I checked there weren’t pictures of Michelle Obama’s naked vagina on the Internet, and Michelle Obama didn’t take part in a lesbian porn photoshoot. Additionally, Melania Trump once claimed that she was the “most bullied person on the world.” Oh, really? Michelle Obama was regularly called “an ape” and a “Wookie” and never publicly complained when she was first lady.

This was just one of many double standards the Obamas faced. Obama had to be darned near perfect to get in the White House. Obama was an Ivy League graduate, had a picture-perfect wife and two kids, no divorce, no out of wedlock children and even then white people still hated him for daring to ascend to the highest office in the land. That hatred is still potent. Trump used it to get elected and even today right wingers still believe the most ridiculous Obama conspiracy theories. The New York Times recently covered a rally of Trump supporters in Arizona and one attendee said she wasn’t sure about Obama’s birth certificate or religion!

“If you’re Muslim, just tell us you’re Muslim,” said Stacey Goodman, a retired police officer. “It’s not that I didn’t believe him, I’m just not qualified to answer that question. I’ve seen information on both sides that’s compelling.”
Even more ridiculous are the lies about Michelle Obama’s gender. A conspiracy theory has been circulating that she is transgender. (A quick Google search will produce plenty of pictures of her earlier accomplishments including photos while she was pregnant.) The fact that this was promoted by conspiracy king Alex Jones, should have stopped it dead in its tracks, but it’s still alive in 2020. Right-Wing Watch recently reported Francine Fosdick, host of the “Up Front In The Prophetic,” prayed that Michelle Obama would be “exposed as a man.”

Another example of this kind of white supremacy is seen in a comment made by Miss. Gov. Phil Bryant. Bryant recently warned the state risked a “1,000 years of darkness” if it elected Mike Espy, a black Democrat, as senator. Espy is a former congressman who has also served as secretary of agriculture during the Clinton administration.

Both the Obamas and Espy are accomplished, capable individuals. The only crime they committed was trying to achieve positions where they would be above white people. And to some Americans, that seems to be a bridge too far.

    (Only three times?)

Bookies Offering 50/1 For Trump to Win a Third Term

Serving more than two terms barred under 22nd amendment.

UK betting firm Ladbrokes is offering odds of 50/1 for Donald Trump to win a third term in office.

The bookmakers are offering the bet for Trump “to be sitting president on Feb 1st 2025 in 3rd term.” Trump is also at 10/1 to the the Republican nominee in 2024.

Under the Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution, presidents are limited to serving a maximum of two terms as president, meaning the prospect of Trump winning a term is almost impossible.

However, Trump has joked about such an outcome on more than one occasion.

So Trump had his henchmen follow an American ambassador. For what purposes was that? Parnas should have come out with all this stuff during the house impeachment as it should be in the body of evidence going forward.

What's the unemployed rate under Trump, lots of new jobs, people like you would prefer poverty, homelessness, screw the poor into the ground, as that's better than Trump.
