Yep Bowie. People still line up to get in. However for us born and raised US citizens what we are seeing is pathetic display of leadership. For the immigrants it's still better than their current conditions but......

^ Looks like a real picnic eh Bowie?

Can you imagine the desperation of people carrying everything they have on their backs, risking everything and walking hundreds of miles to escape violence and
persecution in their own countries to seek asylum? I doubt it.

JPPR2 - Interesting is the State of Our Union. Trump hit the chord, secured the votes, and, the dark horse candidate who didn't stand a chance "Won". So Be It. The voting system is in place and he won the election, "Fair and Square". Don't matter, the Fat Lady has Sung.

If the American people perceive his performance as a "pathetic display of leadership" he will be shown the door. The way our system works - vote. It will be interesting to see "if" the support base that elected him will "vote for another". Perhaps akin to admitting they were wrong in the first place. We will see soon enough.

but... if their purpose is/was to flee the violence in their own country then, why are they not accepting the asylum offered by Mexico, a country that speaks spanish, yet, they have rejected Mexicos offer of asylum and trek across Mexico to select USA's tent city accommodations.

I guess it does make sense to some, not to me though.

I think Bowie's chart is a bit dated. And nobody is saying mass shootings didn't occur before Trump. We are saying that Trump is responsible for the recent mass shootings inspired by his hate speech.

Mass shootings have become part of our society now. What sets the shooter(s) off could be a myriad of things. I do not blame Trump for mass shootings as I would not any previous Presidents. That responsibility and blame lies completely on the parents especially when you see the ages of the young guys doing it.

On Edit: I will say however that if a leader incites hate to the public relentlessly like Trump is doing, he is likely the tipping point for the recent ones.

Yup, gotta agree, a good portion of the blame rests on the parents, and, a good portion of the blame rests on society itself. Nonetheless, only a dysfunctional personality can or would consider murdering others as a "solution".

Possibly because you're being willfully blind to the issues Mexico itself has been having with drug cartels and murder and violence.

The number depends on how good is the madman equipped, so he makes it better or less better for the POTUS?

Mass shooting statistics in the United States - Washington Post
The number of U.S. mass shootings depends on how you count. Public mass shootings account for a tiny fraction of the country's gun deaths, but they are ...

There is no universally accepted definition of a public mass shooting, and this piece defines it narrowly. It looks at the 165 shootings in which four or more people were killed by a lone shooter (two shooters in a few cases). It does not include shootings tied to gang disputes or robberies that went awry, and it does not include domestic shootings that took place exclusively in private homes. A broader definition would yield much higher numbers.

Public mass shootings are a small slice of gun deaths

    Mass shootings
    Gun related 51
    deaths in 2019 8,741
Source: Gun Violence Archive. Excludes the roughly 22,000 annual gun suicides, which are not publicly reported in real time.

This tally begins Aug. 1, 1966, when a student sniper fired down on passersby from the observation deck of a clock tower at the University of Texas. By the time police killed him, 17 other people were dead or dying. As Texas Monthly’s Pamela Colloff wrote, the shooting “ushered in the notion that any group of people, anywhere — even walking around a university campus on a summer day — could be killed at random by a stranger.”

I think you're somewhat missing the point.

The fact is the current POTUS is a racist who stokes the flames of racial tensions and dog whistles and encourages and legitimizes violence by his supporters.

This is clearly obvious. He thinks making America Great again is kicking out all people that are not a pasty white schmucks like him. He makes this abundantly clear in his tweets, comments and behavior. Unfortunately there are so many lost Lemmings that will act upon encouragement by a public figure.

Don't know if it's his actual thinking. But, it is undeniable that he managed to strike a chord with he "kick out illegal aliens" platform. His "Build the Wall" platform coupled with his opponents "baggage" secured his seat in the white house.

He is a "reality" TV star, so he knows how to play to the crowd. Seems he played the hand correctly, evidenced by who is sitting in the White House.

^ How many times are you going to repeat yourself? You have basically said the same or a variation of the above in numerous posts now. It has gotten repetitive and old.

Stupid fucking dumbarse is getting his arse handed to him on a plate by the chinkies.

Yet the idiot claims he knows how to "make a deal".

(Bloomberg) -- After trying to placate Donald Trump for more than a year only to face tariffs on virtually all its shipments to the U.S., China is signalling it’s ready to play hardball.

In a stark escalation of the trade war that has roiled financial markets and weighed on economic growth worldwide, Beijing allowed the yuan to tumble to its weakest level in a decade against the dollar and asked state-owned companies to suspend imports of U.S. agricultural products.

The moves emerged within days of Trump’s threat to impose additional tariffs on China and struck at the heart of two of the U.S. president’s fiercest criticisms -- that Beijing manages its currency unfairly to help exporters and has failed to keep promises to boost purchases of U.S. crops after a trade truce in June. Investors responded by dumping Asian stocks and currencies in favor of haven assets including the Japanese yen, U.S. Treasuries and gold.

"It’s among the worst-case scenarios," said Michael Every, head of Asia financial markets research at Rabobank in Hong Kong. "First markets sell off, then Trump wakes up and this all gets far, far worse."

Well, the Yuan broke 7, been a decade since its been that low.
China to suspend imports of USA agricultural products.
Less USA food to eat, well, the Chinese ain't gonna starve - they're just gonna hafta buy more Thai rice.
That'll work - champagne corks are poppin' in the Thai paddies - drought - not to worry, China's sending' more water to the mekong.

Umm ya that is a real sign that your orange god is winning. Oh wait the Chinese economy is still growing with GDP consistently over 6%. Opps must have forgot that. So much winning.

In terms of mass shootings in the US, the shooters are nearly exclusively white supremacists, neofascists, whether it happened on Obama's watch or Trump's watch. Most importantly, the former tried to do something about it but was stoned walled by Republicans and the latter aids and abets it and is defended by the Republicans.
