Thirteen years later, that same receptionist has officially won the Democratic nomination for the Ohio legislature. Her name is Rachel Crooks, and she is one of 255 women who successfully ran and triumphed in their respective state legislature campaigns: part of a massive push by the Democratic Party as a whole to retake the country from the GOP.

Interestingly enough, Crooks never mentioned the length of the ordeal, which Trump specifies as two minutes, nor did she say that it took place in the lobby, instead stating that it occurred in an elevator. Either Trump got his accusations mixed up, or he knows something more about the alleged incident,........than he is willing to divulge.

Trump Lost a Talking Point – Then Lost His Cool

President Trump just can’t shake his obsession with the border wall. This week Trump dressed down Kirstjen Nielsen, his Homeland Security Secretary, for not securing our “porous borders”. In front of his entire Cabinet,

Trump railed against the increasing rate of illegal immigrants crossing the United States border. Trump often likes to claim that illegal immigrant crossings decreased in his first year in office, and now with that talking point

gone, Trump is mad.

Some in the Cabinet members tried to reason with Trump, explaining that many migrants are needed everyday to work in agriculture. This seemed to placate Trump briefly, but he quickly returned to his criticisms of border

security. But President Trump wants to prosecute 100% percent of illegal border crossings, even if that will likely separate children from their families. Nielsen and others in the administration have balked at this idea,

unwilling to jail children and break up families.

Nielsen has even reportedly drafted her letter of resignation, and is reportedly “miserable” at her post. And she’s not alone. Just look at the firings and resignations of Trump’s other Cabinet members.

Trump fired Rex W. Tillerson, his secretary of state, and then pushed out Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster. Then, Gary D. Cohn, economic adviser in the White House, and Hope Hicks, quit. Following this, Thomas P. Bossert, the

president’s homeland security adviser, also quit.

It’s almost as if working for the Trump administration for any amount of time is a miserable experience. Even close friends of the president won’t work for him long term.

And therein lies the problem. If no competent or morally sound candidates can be found to fill these positions, the situation in the Trump White House will only get worse. Heck, I’m surprised there was someone in the

Cabinet

meeting who pushed back against prosecuting 100% of illegal border crossings. What happens when Cabinet meetings are nothing more than Trump ranting sessions?

Hopefully, Nielsen continues on as Homeland Security Secretary. It seems like she is actually sane, and a buffer to Trump’s more insane ideas about border security. After all, as she and other pointed out, the United States

relies on migrant workers to work in the agricultural industry. These men and women do the jobs that most Americans refuse to do; and, at a pay scale that is almost criminal. But, as usual, Trump cannot see past the

stamp of “illegal” long enough to realize this country simply wouldn’t be possible without them.
