I remember how Obama got blamed for the financial crisis and the bailout package though it all happened under Bush. Obama had to contain the damage.

I see how Obama will get blamed for what Trump does as well.

It’s still more than three weeks before the incoming Trump administration is set to take office, but one member of his staff has already been forced to resign over an alleged sex scandal.

    A sleazy group indeed.

WINNING! Lockheed to lower cost on F-35; Trump win for TAXPAYERS!

    Ryan Saavedra Dec 23rd, 2016 11:09 pm 73 Comments

    188523297735c8378fe58k
First Boeing now Lockheed Martin. Donald Trump’s twitter account is saving taxpayers literally BILLIONS of dollars.

Last week Trump took a shot at the OVERPRICED F-35 program on Twitter:

The F-35 program and cost is out of control. Billions of dollars can and will be saved on military (and other) purchases after January 20th.

    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 12, 2016

    Business Insider reported:
“In response to a series of cost overruns and other development issues for the F-35 fighter jet, President-elect Donald Trump said on Thursday he has asked Boeing to “price-out a comparable F-18 Super Hornet.

Boeing’s response — also announced via tweet — said it accepted the invitation to work with the Trump administration to “affordably meet US military requirements.”

On December 12, Trump said the cost for Lockheed Martin’s fifth-generation stealth F-35 Lightning II jet was “out of control.” The message sent Lockheed Martin’s stock down from $251 at the opening bell to $245.50, before it rebounded to a little more than $253 a share. Similarly on Thursday, shares of Lockheed Martin fell 2.0% to $247.75 after hours, while Boeing shares rose 0.7% to $158.52.”

    Boeing responded with:

Ready to work with @realDonaldTrump‘s administration to affordably meet U.S. military requirements.

    — The Boeing Company (@Boeing) December 22, 2016

    NEW UPDATE

    Reuters is reporting:

“Lockheed Martin Corp said its Chief Executive Marillyn Hewson gave U.S. President-elect Donald Trump a personal commitment to bring down the price of its F-35 fighter jet, after he heaped pressure on the aerospace company over the cost.

Lockheed’s shares fell on Friday after Trump’s message on Twitter, and after he earlier tweeted that he had asked rival Boeing Co to “price-out” an older aircraft as an alternative.

Hewson said in a statement tweeted by Lockheed that the company would “aggressively” drive down the cost of the F-35, which brought in about 20 percent of Lockheed’s sales last year.”

LM CEO just had a good conversation with @RealDonaldTrump… she personally committed to drive down the cost of the F-35! pic.twitter.com/K2aK7pW07f

    — Lockheed Martin (@LockheedMartin) December 23, 2016

Recently Trump took a shot at Boeing on Twitter for the out of control costs of Air Force One:

Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order!

    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 6, 2016

    The Result of that Tweet:

‘BIG WIN FOR TAXPAYERS’… Boeing CEO vows to build affordable Air Force One https://t.co/6JIZu7jlqn

The cost overruns on the F35 have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous. Given that it's leading edge stuff, some overruns are excusable but it's also seven years behind schedule.

These big defense contractors have been getting away with this kind of thing for decades, and they have ripped off the US tax payers for obscene amounts of money.

How can a Boeing 747 be $4 billion over budget. They have built thousands of them over several decades. OK we know it's not a "standard" 747, but still.... Now somebody is calling bullshit on the whole exercise.

I wonder how LM can suddenly find a way to lower the F35 costs after all this time......

The program is the most expensive military weapons system in history, and has been much criticised inside and outside government, in the US and in allied countries.

Critics argue that the plane is "plagued with design flaws," with many blaming the procurement process in which Lockheed was allowed "to design, test, and produce the F-35 all at the same time, instead of… [identifying and fixing] defects before firing up its production line." By 2014, the program was "$163 billion over budget[,] seven years behind schedule." Critics also contend that the program's high sunk costs and political momentum make it "too big to kill."

It's not that was Trump talking out of his ass as usual. Now the right wing fever swamp is talking a hold of it to spin it into some Trump victory.

"In fact, Boeing has never referred to the total cost of the project, and $4 billion has been toward the high end of outside estimates. The only firm figure that’s been agreed to so far involves a $170 million contract to develop the requirements for the two beefed-up Boeing 747-8 jets.

Like the current Air Force One planes, the future planes will have to be modified with equipment for in-flight refueling, radiation hardening, secure communications, anti-missile systems and other features that most 747s don’t need. The specifications are subject to negotiation, and Boeing could conceivably work with the Pentagon to fit the requirements to the budget."

With regards to the F-35 it should have never been built in the first place. You can not effectively design an aircraft to work in all the branches of service. They have made to many compromises resulting in serious design flaws. VTOL capabilities, the ability to land on an aircraft carrier, on and on. The thing is overweight and under powered.

The F-22 should never have been canceled and this F-35 should have never been built. If Trump really wanted to fix this problem he would cancel the F-35 and restart the F-22. Then go back to the drawing board for the Navies replacement aircraft.

Putin's already refering to him as "HIS EXCELLENCY"
President-elect Donald Trump on Friday shared a letter he received from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who urged the next president "to take real steps to restore the framework of bilateral cooperation" while offering Trump his "warmest Christmas and New Year greetings."

"A very nice letter from Vladimir Putin; his thoughts are so correct," Trump said in a statement. "I hope both sides are able to live up to these thoughts, and we do not have to travel an alternate path."
In the translation of the December 15th letter provided by the Trump team, Putin wrote that "serious global and regional challenges, which our countries have had to face in recent years, show that relations between Russia and the US remain an important factor in ensuring stability and security of the modern world."

Putin continued, "I hope that after you assume the position of the President of the United States of America, we will be able -- by acting in a constructive and pragmatic manner -- to take real steps to restore the framework of bilateral cooperation in different areas as well as bring our level of collaboration on the international scene to a qualitatively new level."
The release of the letter -- which was confirmed as authentic by Moscow -- comes days after Russia loudly voiced complaints about its relationship with the US under the Obama administration, and after ambiguous remarks from Trump about the need to "strengthen and expand" US nuclear capability to counter nuclear adversaries.
At his annual year-end news conference on Thursday, Putin said that the US and Russia "need to discuss ways to normalize our relations. During his election campaign, Trump said it would be proper to normalize and it can't be worse, and I agree with him."
A Kremlin spokesperson criticized the poor relationship with the Obama administration in an interview Wednesday.
"Nearly all levels of our dialogue (with the US) has been frozen," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian state-run news agency RIA Novosti. US State Department spokesperson John Kirby pushed back on Peskov's assessment, saying Thursday that "diplomatic engagement with Russia continues across a wide range of issues."
Still, the sharp rhetoric from each side stems from serious disagreements over crises in Syria and Ukraine, and allegations by the US against Russia of covertly interfering in the 2016 election by hacking -- to the advantage of Trump, according to the intelligence community.
Adding to the tension is Trump's cavalier dismissal of nuclear proliferation concerns -- he reportedly told MSNBC on Friday, "let it be an arms race." And incoming new White House press secretary Sean Spicer added to Trump's comments by saying on CNN, "If another country or countries want to threaten our safety, our sovereignty, [Trump's] going to do what it takes."
