I don't know of any OPED pieces posted that people have labled otherwise. They are always clearly labled OPINION when they come from a legitimate source. And there is certainly no forum rule that stipulates that only strict news items can be posted. People can certainly either agree or disagree so I find it odd that someone would complain about the practice as if it is some kind of effort to deceive.

That would make sense...a new president selecting people that will support him instead of neutralizing everything he tries to do. Pretty normal human behavior one would think.

Absolutely. People have this fixation about Goldman Sachs because of their position in the financial sector and some of the reckless behavior that took place in certain specialized units of the bank during the period leading up to the liquidity meltdown, but there are over thirty thousand people working for GS....and as I've said before they are some of the brightest and best in the whole industry, world wide.

Trump needs to be very careful about tampering with deregulating of this industry again, but hopefully the lessons learned will stick. The best people to oversee the big Wall St banks are indeed experienced bankers simply because the business is so complex and diverse they are the only ones who can really deal with it effectively. Where else are you going to find anybody suitable for Treasury Sec or Chair of the Fed etc...??

Trump Inaugural Events Kick Off in Washington

President-elect Donald Trump says the nation will "see something that is so amazing" Friday when he is sworn in as the 45th president of the United States.

After an inaugural concert Thursday night on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Trump said he frankly did not care whether the weather was "going to be beautiful or if it rains like crazy," telling thousands that the entire world was watching what's happening in the United States.

Light rain and chilly temperatures were forecast for Inauguration Day.

Minutes before a massive fireworks show exploded over Washington, Trump promised to work hard, unify the country and "make America great for everybody."

Sean Spicer, who will be Trump's White House press secretary, said the president-elect is continuing to make changes in the inaugural address he will deliver from the steps of the U.S. Capitol at midday Friday. Spicer said the speech will be "very personal, his vision for America."

Trump intends to outline "the challenges we face" in the speech, Spicer added. He described the message as a philosophical statement about where Trump wants to take the national government, but not a legislative agenda.

Beginning Friday afternoon and over the next few days, the spokesman said, Trump will sign executive orders "enacting an agenda of real change." The president-elect is still "working through on which areas he wants to do and [in] what order," Spicer added.

Trump could immediately overturn some of outgoing President Barack Obama's edicts by such actions.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence said he and Trump would be "ready to serve the American people on Day One."

He also thanked Obama and outgoing Vice President Joe Biden for their cooperation in the transition effort.

With the nomination of former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue to be agriculture secretary, Spicer said, Trump has filled all 21 posts in his Cabinet. He also noted that 536 officials are now positioned in government agencies throughout Washington to join in the transition of power when the full government resumes business Monday.

Spicer said 50 officials who handled behind-the-scenes work in the U.S. government for Obama have agreed to stay on in the new administration.

The vice president-elect said Trump has mapped out plans for "Day One, Day 100 and Day 200" for what policies the new administration hopes to enact. Interest in working for the new administration has grown daily, Pence added, with 86,000 people applying for jobs.

Trump and Pence, victors in one of the most contentious U.S. national elections ever, took part in several events in the capital Thursday, on the eve of the formal inauguration ceremony.

Trump praised several of his Cabinet selections during a luncheon at his Trump International Hotel, not far from the White House. He mentioned in passing that he intends to nominate Woody Johnson, the billionaire owner of the New York Jets professional football team, as the U.S. ambassador to Britain.

Later, accompanied by Pence, Trump laid a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery, where more than 400,000 military veterans and family members are buried.

The billionaire real estate mogul took part in a concert and celebration later at the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall. And both Trump and Pence, plus other key officials in the new administration, are expected at a candlelight dinner with campaign donors at Washington's Union Station train depot.

Trump is spending his last night as a private citizen at Blair House, the government's residence for dignitaries, directly across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House.

Even as officials prepare for the inauguration — with all the pomp and solemnity linked to the transfer of power in the United States as Obama leaves office after eight years as the American leader — two more of Trump's Cabinet selections are facing confirmation hearings before Senate panels.

Former Texas Governor Rick Perry, picked as Trump's energy secretary, said he regrets his past comment — during his unsuccessful 2012 presidential bid — calling for abolition of the Energy Department that he is now likely to head.

"My past statements made over five years ago about abolishing the Department of Energy do not reflect my current thinking," Perry said in prepared remarks. "In fact, after being briefed on so many of the vital functions of the Department of Energy, I regret recommending its elimination."

Treasury Secretary-designate Steve Mnuchin faced tough questions about his oversight of a bank that foreclosed on homeowner loans, costing them their houses, at the height of the U.S. recession in 2009.

Spokesman Spicer criticized Senator Chuck Schumer, leader of the minority Democrats in the Senate, for delaying Republican plans to quickly confirm Trump's Cabinet picks.

Even "consensus candidates" for Cabinet positions have yet to be confirmed, Spicer said. "There's no excuse for the delay tactics," Spicer said.

Several of Trump's Cabinet selections have faced rocky confirmation hearings, with Democrats raising questions about their personal financial dealings, their adversarial connections to the agencies they have been appointed to lead, and their lack of knowledge about some laws and policies in place at their departments.

So. now the real fun begins. A black day in the land of the left.. how did all this happen?

Here is a link to a pretty decent summary of events that led to the events taking place in DC today. It's quite well balanced and factual. It does not condemn Trump nor does it praise him. It's worth a read for anyone who just wants to review Trumps journey instead of having him declared public enemy 1.

Trump asks dozens of senior Obama appointees to stay but top intel officer, key diplomats decline

WASHINGTON – President-elect Donald Trump has asked roughly 50 senior Obama administration appointees to remain in their posts after his inauguration to ensure continuity in government, his incoming White House press secretary said Thursday.

^ Because the fact that so many diplomats have to stay on is unprecedented and a clear sign of the new administrations incompetence.

Trump made it clear that he wanted a clean break and gave notice to ambassadors to leave office by Jan. 20th regardless of the impact on families having to relocate immediately. He really shouldn't be surprised if his magnamity is repaid in kind.

Reporters Apologize for Spreading Fake New York Times Story About Rick Perry - Breitbart

The NYT piece that alleged Perry did not know what the energy secretary role was was fake news.

I think during the trump era libtards will have to get used to breitbart being the news site of record.

The times they are a changing.
