Republican senators now regret not doing more to contain Trump

Republican senators say they feel a sense of growing regret over not standing up to President Trump sooner — a day after a violent mob ransacked the Capitol building in one of the darkest and most humiliating days in U.S. history.

One Republican senator who requested anonymity to discuss his conversations with GOP colleagues acknowledged GOP lawmakers should have served as a stronger check on the president over the past four years.

“We should have done more to push back, both against his rhetoric and some of the things he did legislatively,” said the lawmaker. “The mistake we made is that we always thought he was going to get better. We thought that once he got the nomination, and then once he got a Cabinet he was going to get better, he was going to be more presidential.”

    This is rich.
Republican senators regret not doing more in the past by not doing more now, to the point of expressing such regret under unanimity.

    LOL
As I get older my typing skills are deteriorating, which is very troubling to me because my Mom developed dementia in her seventies, I am almost 64 now and I am beginning to see some of the same signs.
I used to use touch typing , now I am either looking at the screen and typing nonsense , or looking at the keys and not seeking what the hell I am actually typing, either way I often have to go back and correct ,what I find which is not always all.
so when you see a letter in a word I typed that does not make sense , look at the letter next to it on the keyboard and perhaps what I typed might make a little more sense.

I just heard an analysis of the possibility of a self pardon by trump by a constitutional lawyer, and he said that it would be very stupid of him to do that.because
First , you cant be judge and jury in your own trial , so it will not fly.
but more importantly , the only way to challenge such assertion ,it would be to charge him with a federal crime. no way would such assertion go unchallenged because it would set a precedent , so if he pardoned himself he would be inviting to be charged.

    Would it help him though?

While there are differing opinions among experts about whether Mr Trump could pardon himself, there is more consensus that such a move would be fraught with difficulties.

Jonathan Turley, a professor at George Washington University Law School, said a president pardoning himself would raise serious questions "of an abuse of power".

"It is also important to keep in mind that such a pardon would not protect against either an impeachment or state charges," he told the LA Times. "It would also not stop the investigation."

Impeachment is primarily a political process, so pardoning could not prevent a hostile Congress advancing proceedings against a president.

Two University of Chicago law professors, Daniel Hemel and Eric Posner, writing in the New York Times, argue that if Mr Trump pardoned relatives he could open himself to the risk of being charged with obstruction of justice.

If he were to pardon himself, questions would follow about whether it is valid, and it could ultimately end up in the Supreme Court.

Baldy orange loser has announced that he won't be attending Biden's inauguration.

Maybe his plan is to try and stay in the WH and he's afraid they'll have the locks changed while he is out.

This is a draft article of impeachment Democrats have drawn up against Donald Trump obtained by NBC News.

The draft levels one charge against Donald Trump — "Incitement of Insurrection".

"Donald John Trump engaged in high Crimes and Misdemeanors by willfully inciting violence against the Government of the United States," the draft article reads.
"In all of this, President Trump gravely endangered the security of the United States and its institutions of government.
He threatened the integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful transition of power, and imperiled a coordinate branch of government.
He thereby betrayed his trust as President, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States."

First Republican senator calls on Trump to resign

Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska has become the first Republican senator to call for Donald Trump's resignation.

I want him to resign. I want him out. He has caused enough damage," Murkowski told local media.

"He doesn’t want to stay there. He only wants to stay there for the title. He only wants to stay there for his ego. He needs to get out."

Twitter suspends accounts of Michael Flynn, Sidney Powell

Twitter permanently suspended the accounts of former national security adviser Michael Flynn and President Trump's lawyer Sidney Powell on Friday for breaking the platform's "Coordinated Harmful Activity" policy.

Why it matters: The action comes as part of the platform's crackdown on QAnon-related content. Both Flynn and Powell have promoted the far-right conspiracy theory that purports without evidence that the "deep state" is waging against President Trump.

Context: The bans come after Twitter temporarily suspended Trump's account and threatened to permanently remove him from the platform if he continues to post false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

What they're saying: "When we determine that a group, movement, or campaign meets the criteria for designation as engaged in Coordinated Harmful Activity, we may suspend accounts whose primary use is to propagate and/or encourage engagement in the identified coordinated harmful activity," a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement

"We’ve been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behavior that has the potential to lead to offline harm, and given the renewed potential for violence surrounding this type of behavior in the coming days, we will permanently suspend accounts that are solely dedicated to sharing QAnon content."

The big picture: The platform also removed the accounts of Michael Flynn Jr., and Ron Watkins, the former administrator of 8kun, the website formerly called 8chan that hosts posts from Q — the anonymous figure behind the conspiracy theory.

He will join Parler obviously. Thats where all the banned conservatives like Milo are.

But now the leftist overlords are trying to kill Parler

Apple has given Parler, the social network favored by conservatives and extremists, an ultimatum to implement a full moderation plan of its platform within the next 24 hours or face expulsion from the App store.
In an email sent this morning and obtained by BuzzFeed News, Apple wrote to Parler’s executives that there had been complaints that the service had been used to plan and coordinate the storming of the US Capitol by President Donald Trump’s supporters on Wednesday. The insurrection left five people dead, including a police officer.
"We have received numerous complaints regarding objectionable content in your Parler service, accusations that the Parler app was used to plan, coordinate, and facilitate the illegal activities in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021 that led (among other things) to loss of life, numerous injuries, and the destruction of property,” Apple wrote to Parler. “The app also appears to continue to be used to plan and facilitate yet further illegal and dangerous activities.”
    ...
Apple said that “to ensure there is no interruption of the availability of your app on the App Store,” Parler was required to submit an update and a “requested moderation improvement plan within 24 hours of the date of the message,” which was sent on Friday morning. Apple said if it did not receive an update from the company within that time frame, the app would be removed from the App store.
An Apple spokesperson declined to comment.

No not me. Free markets don't exist

You'd think that the left would have the sense to at least let the one half of the country have Parler. But nope.

They just turned the dial up on the civil war to full heat

Now you have "Trumped" yourself. Telegram is a messaging service just like FaceBook messenger. But you can encrypt messages. I have used Telegram for over 3 years now. Nothing like twitter and simply developed by a couple of Russian guys. With servers all over the world.

You are a want to be skidmark, please keep on showing what a total idiot you are. Guys like you are the perfect example of how Trump was able to go so far and pull the wool over so many peoples eyes. They are fucking stupid like you.

Seriously you should be embarrassed at your stupidity. Its not going away though. Always able to look you up for eternity right here.

Yesterday, Lester Holt spoke of "the poison oozing out of the oval office" on the NBC Nightly News. This segment tonight on ABC news shows the Trump family celebrating the march to the Capital. Glad to see the news producers opening up the gates on truth.

Asked yesterday, and answered for anyone that's interested.

Is the potus term limit restricted to two terms, or 8 years?

Before the idiots kick off, when Harris becomes potus after Biden croaks or retires early, could she still serve two full terms, ie more than 8 years in total, or just one?

21A says a person can only be elected to be president two times for a total of eight years. The key word here is 'elected', which means she could stay in the WH until 2033, effectively 12 years less however long Biden holds the fort.

He could be heading to Scotland to play a round of golf. Prestwick airport has been told to expect the arrival of a US military Boeing 757 aircraft, that is occasionally used by Trump, on January 19.

Perhaps he will claim political asylum when he's there!

Max she can serve is 10 years. 2 elected as Pres for 8, plus 2 max or less depending on when Joe croaks or retires.
