It's not the system - it's the the fact that the authors of the constitution never saw it coming.

And since the Republicans are the usual beneficiaries, a constitutional amendment to correct it will never get passed.

P.S. Thanks for translating the gibberese.

Good ballpark number. A detailed look at red states where Biden did much better than Clinton in 2016 would show the numbers.

These are the folks Biden must start with if he has any hope of uniting the country. He will get no help from the out going administration nor much from Congress.

Biden will inherit a war. A war Trump failed miserably to lead to victory.

The enemy of course is COVID. For Biden to move toward victory he will need more than just his supporters to fight it.

Getting support from the 30% of Republicans who voted for him is a small start but will certianly help turn the tide.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

All the (CNN) analysis I have seen so far basicaly said that Biden did not shift the Trump vote by much if anything. The outcome seems to be that Biden mobilized his base better, (as compared to Clinton) but did not really chip into the trump base. Overall, the turnout was much higher on both sides, but the lines are as sharply drawn as ever.

Difficult to see how COVID can be beaten without a serious lockdown. I can’t see the Trumpanzee’s going along with that one

The electoral College is just another safeguard against the tyranny of the majority.
I am a progressive voter , and I understand the frustration when a candidate wins the popular vote but loses the Electoral College , but the system was designed so that exactly this thing could happen, and when it does it is working as it was designed.
The US is a very large place with many different and diverse populations, If there was no Electoral College candidates will only concentrate in Urban , large population areas ignoring the rest, and the concerns of small populations would go totally unrepresented.

Did we not have a revolution and gained our independence from England exactly for that reason?

So you think it's right that 580,000 hick farmers in Wyoming have the same political power as 39 million people in California?

The highest legal authority in the country is predominately right wing * because of this, despite them not having a statistical mandate.

    * Added: For at least a generation.

Actually, continuing that conversation, the Supreme Court should be chosen every four years, with equal say between the two parties and the party holding the senate having the decisive nomination.

(Actually there should be more than two parties, but that's another story).

Wyoming wouldn't have joined the union if they didn't get equal clout as the bigger states. So it's a non question

So, what if you come to believe the union no longer speaks for your people or represents your best interests, and want to leave?

Trump is not a product of the electoral college, trump was the product of the inability of the Democrats to address the concerns of those who voted for him. First they produced a flawed candidate who nobody really liked. in Hillary Clinton, and instead of addressing the concerns of those in the rust belt , and those displaced by the information economy. She called them deplorables.
Make no mistake, people did not elect Biden as much as they rejected trump, the conditions that created trump and the "deplorables" are still out there. And so are a bunch of trump wanabe players, to put them to good use like trump did.
The Electoral college worked exactly as it was designed by giving a voice to the rural minorities, and those feeling left behind, It leveled the playing field for better or for worst.

The 25th amendment still applies during the transition period. But I doubt the republicunts would be on board with that.

This epic fuckhead really isn't used to losing. They should keep an eye on him. He might get into some trouble.

    • WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In what many viewed as an ominous sign for Donald J. Trump’s reëlection prospects, Ivanka Trump has applied for a job as Joe Biden’s daughter.

Trump’s job application, which was leaked to the press on Saturday, included her promise to make Biden’s Presidency “even more successful” than her father’s.
