I would say the most Boreing threads on here are when Steam Smeg and Ant talk to each other endlessly

I prefer we control AI even when above human level instead of them controlling us. That's why non profit research is a good idea IMO.

A real risk, yes. BTW did you know that the server room of SpaceX HQ in Hawthorne is labeled Skynet? And Elon Musk is funding a major AI research operation? He sees AI as a potentially real threat if we do it wrong and prefers to advance his own research in it instead of sticking his head in the sand.

Even darker than that, SKYNET is the name given to the US National Security Agency's machine learning algorithm program that selects targets for drone strikes...

Skynet... those Shermans sure do have a wicked sense of humor..

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Darker still, an army of wahabi reptilian sex enslaving cyborgs will trap us in a VR world and feed us through tubes with their cum, whilst playing Daniel O'Donnell albums at us for all eternity, and forcing us to memorise articles from the Guardian.

Maybe my views are skewed, but I find the future of America and the World so depressing I avoid thinking about it.

I feel deeply sad for my grandsons, nephews and nieces who will have to live in a World I'd prefer not to see.

Surprisingly my son sees all the problems ahead very clearly. Yet he is much more optimistic than me about it.

My best wishes to him, along with the young people in my family and everyone else.
