    So what If ?

Sort of been following this balls-up of a multi billion farce of this US election and now we seem to have two only that have a realistic chance of becoming president, Trump and Clinton.

But what If: Bernie stood as an independent ?

He had considerable support within the Dem's.
There seem to be a lot of Rep's who dont want Trump.
Others within the Dem's who want to see change from the establishment.
Independent voters who have no party allegiance who also want to see change.

Would he have enough support to have a realistic chance ?

The question is (or should be):

Has Sanders stated he's willing to run as an Independent?

I don't think so. He would peel votes away from HRC and help T.

I think of more importance is what if the GOP put up a different candidate to Trump?

Would he (and more importantly, could he afford to) run as an independent?

The major factor that would stop Bernie is that he couldn't afford it.

What if Superman had worked for the Germans...

Silly thread. Americans get what they get because of the silly system they have allowed to develop into it's present state.

I don't think Prayuth would want to piss off Kim Jong Un and Hun Sen, by replacing them with a kaek.

Wishful thinking that Bernie would run. It's a nice thought, but I think Cold Pizza is right in that he'd strip Hillary of heaps of votes.
I don't think Bernie would run if that was the Dem strategist's opinion, unless there was good evidence to suggest that he'd also strip Chump of a significant amount of Rep votes.
Do rednecks outnumber smart people in the US? With Bush having got a second term, I guess they do, sadly.

We'll see what happens at the GOP Convention.

IMO, if they try to do this, they would unleash a major divide. The GOP, at the potus level, seems already frayed and damaged if you look at the the quality of candidates they've had in recent elections: Palin as a VP, the other candidates in 2008 and 2112, and now Trump, who has a bad way with getting his message out - over-the-top "door in the face" techniques.

They've already got a major divide.

That's why 400 delegates have already said they won't back him, and the subject of a convention nomination is being discussed.
