'Anonymous' releases video threatening city of Sacramento
Online hacker group wants city's anti-camping ban lifted

The online hacker group known as "Anonymous" released a video Thursday threatening the city of Sacramento and its no camping ordinance aimed at the homeless population.






In the three-minute video, the group's spokesman, who is seen wearing a mask and black cloak, opens the video by saying, "Greetings, city of Sacramento. We are the resistance."

"It has come to our attention that you continue to deny the homeless their basic rights, as well as rights guaranteed by Amendment 8 of the United States Constitution, as stated by the Justice Department in its filing found on Justice.gov."

The masked man goes on to say that "sleeping is a life-sustaining activity" that should not be criminalized and asks that a 60-day moratorium on the "do not rest" statute be imposed during negotiations between interested parties.

"We applaud the efforts you have made to provide for some of your homeless population. There is more work to be done."

At the end of the video, Anonymous states that if their request is not heeded, "We (will) bring the formidable talent of Anonymous to your city. We would prefer to work on solutions. You have our attention, and therefore, the attention of the world. Operation Right to Rest engaged."

Sacramento police spokesperson Traci Trapani told KCRA 3 the police department is aware of the video but is unsure of its credibility. Officials are monitoring the city's websites for problems.

The known group has also issued threats against GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump, claiming responsibility for briefly disrupting a website associated with the candidate after he proposed a moratorium on Muslims entering the U.S.

Anonymous also took down the city of Fort Lauderdale's website after issuing a demand that the Florida city lift its ban on feeding the homeless outdoors.

Cyberwar: Anonymous hack Nigerian government over ‘corruption, poverty and theft’

International hacktivist group Anonymous has targeted a number of official Nigerian government websites as part of an operation to weed out corruption and tackle poverty in the country.
Known for previous attacks on religious organizations, political figures and terrorists, the hacking collective issued a call for followers to “take out” Nigerian government websites.

Posting on Twitter, the secretive group threatened to leak data unless “selfish politicians” address widespread corruption, rising unemployment and problems with healthcare.

The statement referenced allegations of stolen oil money and missing public funds as reasons for the Operation Nigeria hack.

“Let them see that we have Anonymous Nigeria,” the group said, “... Let them know we are anonymous, we are legion, we do not forgive, we do not forget, they should have expected us.”

On Friday, images showing websites belonging to the Nigerian state being tampered with, including the Federal Ministry of Justice, Customs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were published online.
