In hindsight, perhaps yes, but they didn't think that way in Dara'a when Assad's forces opened up on unarmed protesters who had the temerity to complain about his representatives beating and torturing a few kids for writing a bit of anti-regime graffiti they'd seen on the telly.

They should have just jolly well gone back home and known their place eh?

or economic migrants.
Those who are economic migrants will be sent back when it's safe too i guess.

It is up to the Syrians what they do/did or what they think they should do, but they should have had an idea what might happen in their country. Think Hama in 1982. The recent armed uprising was an all or nothing affair. Once started, it would be dangerous to stop and dangerous to lose. The only real way out now is for outside powers to somehow persuade those involved to negotiate a peaceful ending. Tough, very tough, but the only real option now, IMO.

The problem with some governments is that they are seen as illegitimate by large numbers of the population and those regimes have to use force or the threat of force to enable them to stay in power. Might is right sort of thing. The monopoly of force within sovereign countries usually lies with the state. Unfortunately, that is accepted by lots of folks and so long as it stays within certain (undefined) limits, that seems to be OK by the governments of the rest of the world.

There appears to be some positioning of arms, trainers and support people who originated from outside Syria at one of it's airports.

The "evidence" that supports this are satellite photos. These photos are being interpreted as a Russian invasion. There are constant updates on a daily basis of these photographs.

I find it amazing that in the short time that the "Russians" have been improving the airbase we immediately see these photos. I wonder what happened to all the crusader coalition photos that the various countries have accumulated over the years of "dealing" with ISUSA.

Probably the monthly shots of ISUSA encampments/weapons stores/resupply convoys etc. are all available somewhere. Or would their release illustrate the lack of any indication of "incessant bombing" the crusader coalition has, allegedly, been doing?

Seems no-ones going to take you up on the challenge:)
