JASPER, Mo. — A 13-year-old boy appears to have deliberately shot and killed a 12-year-old girl outside a home in rural southwest Missouri with a gun that came from the house, the local sheriff said Friday.
Officers tried to revive the girl, Teresa J. Potts, but she died Thursday evening near the town of Jasper in front of a foster home, Jasper County Sheriff Randee Kaiser said. Jasper is about 130 miles south of Kansas City.
The boy was arrested without incident and is being held by the Jasper County Juvenile Office, Kaiser said at a news conference in nearby Carthage, adding that the boy will be charged in the shooting later on Friday. The sheriff’s comments were first reported by The Joplin Globe.
“It was not a situation where they were playing. It does not appear to be a situation where it was an accident,” Kaiser said.
This raises the question, of course . . . why didn't she have a gun?!

Who says Americans are crazy . . .
The only way to stop a 13 year old boy with a gun is with a 12 year old girl with a gun.
Or something.
Shooter Still at Large After One Killed, Five Hurt in Florida 'ZombiCon' Shooting
A suspect remained at large Sunday night after one person was killed and five other people were wounded in a shooting at a zombie-themed event in Florida, authorities said.
The dead man was identified as Expavious Tyrell Taylor, according to a statement by Fort Myers Mayor Randy Henderson. Four people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and a fifth who was injured refused medical attention, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 11:44 p.m. Saturday in downtown Fort Myers at a "ZombiCon" event, Fort Myers police said.
"I heard four gunshots and saw the crowd 10 feet in front of me part and everyone turn and start running," Desere Lee, a student at Florida Gulf State University who was at the event, told NBC News.
"We pray for all involved in this senseless act of violence," the mayor said. "With the aid of alert citizens and cameras we remain confident in capturing and bringing to justice those who have attacked our citizens."
The suspect remains at large, police said.

Patient Shot When Handgun Accidentally Discharges at Clinic
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS BEAUMONT, Texas — Oct 19, 2015, 2:55 PM ET
A handgun that fell from a purse at a Texas medical clinic has discharged and injured a patient who was checking out of the facility.
Beaumont police said in a statement that the shooting happened Monday as a woman was helping her mother at the clinic. The two were at a front desk preparing to leave.
The woman reached into her mother's purse to retrieve some paperwork when she inadvertently pulled out the small-caliber handgun.
Authorities say the gun tumbled to the ground and discharged, sending a bullet through a wall and striking another patient who was also checking out.
The victim's wound was not considered life-threatening.
No other information was immediately available.
Aaaaaah, she must be part of this well-regulated militia the founding fathers spoke of

Man Trying To Be Good Guy With A Gun Accidentally Shoots Himself During Children’s Movie

A mass shooting still has yet to be stopped by the actions of a “good guy with a gun,” but again we find an example of how flooding our society with heavily-armed civilians magnifies the dangers of being shot.
During a Friday night at the movies in Salina, Kansas, a theater full of families heard a loud bang followed by a man screaming that he had just accidentally shot himself. According to police, an unidentified man accidentally discharged his pistol about 45 minutes into the popular kid’s film, Maze Runner: The Scorched Trials. As if immediately regretting his decision to carry his gun into a movie, the man is said to have screamed out, “Oh, my God! I just shot myself! I just got my concealed carry.”
2 US Police Officers Charged in Fatal Shooting of Boy, 6
Two police officers in Louisiana have been charged with second-degree murder in a shooting that left a 6-year-old boy dead and his father critically wounded.
Immediately after the November 3 shooting in the town of Marksville, the officers were placed on administrative leave and later were held in custody to await further hearings.
The dead child has been identified as Jeremy Mardis, a passenger in a car driven by his father, Christopher Few.

In the hours after the gunfire, investigators said the officers, Norris Greenhouse and Derrick Stafford, were attempting to serve Few with warrants and opened fire on the car when the driver tried to hit them.
However, the Louisiana State Police superintendent, Colonel Mike Edmonson, told reporters Friday evening that there was no evidence that a warrant had been issued.
Authorities said the officers chased Few's car into a dead-end street and fired at least 18 shots into his vehicle, with five of them striking the boy.
The child, who had been diagnosed with autism, died at the scene.
"He didn't deserve to die like that," Edmonson said.

Now, if the six year old boy had been armed . . . but at least the cops are black, that will ease the ire of the police union
Unluckily for the two officers neither appear to be white so by law they can have the book thrown at them, would it have been a different scenario had they been two white officers.
The victim was a White child.

The gunfire critically wounded a man, 45, struck in the neck and abdomen and hit a second victim, 48, in the leg. First responders rushed both men to Bellevue Hospital.
Sorry, Harry . . . one dead and two injured just doesn't cut it anymore. You need to get with the program and concentrate on dogs shooting their owners or todlers killing their siblings or any number of dead over 5.Quote:

A brave 13-year-old Ladson boy fended off two hardened felons who were attempting to break into his house by using his mother’s gun to protect himself while home alone.
The boy saw the men breaking into the back of his home, “at which time he feared for his safety” and grabbed his mother’s gun, the document states. He began firing at them, and the Sheriff’s office reported that they returned fire.
In a heated shootout, he shot Brown three times, and Bennett drove him to the hospital where he later died. The gray Chevy Sonic they were driving had bullet holes in it from the boy chasing them, the affidavit states.
Where is the media coverage of this brave young man. Without the protection of his mothers gun the boy, and probably his mother when she got home, would both be dead.
Guns Reports:
Two convicted felons intent on breaking into a Ladson, South Carolina, home last week were met with surprise when they came face to face with 13-year-old armed with a gun.
According to reports from The Post and Courier, the young boy, who is not being identified, was home alone when he grew suspicious of a car that pulled up outside around 1:30 p.m. Moments later, the two suspects went to the back of the house and attempted to break in, at such time, the boy, fearing for his safety, grabbed his mother’s handgun.
As the suspects tried to make their way into the house, the boy opened fire, but the suspects reacted by returning fire before fleeing from the scene.
The boy chased the suspects out of the home and continued to fire as they fled in their vehicle. The boy, who was uninjured, then called his mother, who instructed him to call the police.
Neighbor Debbie Griffin said she called police after hearing about six shots ring out. She added that her son was outside at the time and heard more shots and witnessed the attempted burglary. He told her he saw the suspects’ car parked behind the house.
Investigators combed the area around the boy’s home and discovered a Colt .45 pistol, which was believed to belong to the suspects.
A short time later, one of the suspects, who was later identified as Lamar Anthwan Brown, 31, was dropped off outside the emergency room of a nearby hospital. Brown, who was shot three times, died at the medical facility. The second suspect, Ira Bennett, 28, later turned himself in to authorities. He was charged with first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Lamar Anthwan Brown, (L) 31, of Summerville, died at Trident Medical Center of gunshot wounds. Bennett, 28, (R) of North Charleston has been charged with first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. But apparently the two men were no strangers to crime, with both having an extensive criminal history. Brown was convicted six times on felony drug charges, in addition to unlawful carrying of a weapon, disorderly conduct and trespassing. Bennett was previously convicted of assault with intent to kill, pointing a firearm at a person and third-degree burglary, in addition to drug convictions that included possession of a controlled substance, manufacturing and distributing a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
The boy’s mother, who is just thankful her son is safe, said she kept the gun in the home for personal protection, but she never taught her son how to use it.
“I tell my kids that if anything ever happens to call 911, but I also tell them to protect themselves if they have to,” the mother said. “I never would have dreamed that this would have been a part of our day today.”
The boy, who homeschools and is typically home with another family member during the day, did not wish to talk with reporters, but according to neighbor Debbie Griffin, who witnessed part of the attempted burglary, the boy wished the shooting never would have occurred.

^Guess they weren't wearing their Black Lives Matter hoodies.
Nice upbeat story to start the morning. One dead, the other, given his record, facing decades in prison.
Well done, youngster. Momma might not have taught you to shoot, but somebody did.
