Father arrested on live TV after toddler seen waving a loaded handgun outside their apartment

    The 'Americans Getting Shot' Thread-skynews-boy-gun-indiana-beech-grove_6026334-a

A father has been arrested after a toddler was seen holding a loaded handgun outside their apartment in Indiana.
Footage from a neighbour's security camera had shown the toddler holding the pistol in the hallway of the complex in the city of Beech Grove and at one point pulling the trigger.

However, no bullets were fired from the weapon, according to Indianapolis TV station WXIN.
While no rounds were in the gun's chamber, there were 15 rounds in the magazine.
The toddler's father, 45, was arrested and is expected to appear in court for his initial hearing on Tuesday afternoon, NBC News has reported.

Live footage of the father's arrest was filmed by and broadcast on the reality TV show called On Patrol: Live, which follows law enforcement officers on duty, Beech Grove Police Department has said.
The father has been accused of felony neglect of a dependent, police said.
The boy, whose age has not been reported, does not appear to have been harmed in the incident.

Police seized a semiautomatic Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol during the arrest, WXIN reported.

Luckily we know that the easy accessibility to guns is not one of the problems . . . it's hands . . . or fingers . . . or skin.

'One dead' and multiple injuries reported after shooting at Michigan State University

One person has reportedly been killed after a shooting at Michigan State University - with a search under way for a lone gunman in a mask .

Police said there were "multiple reported injuries" and described the suspect as "a short male with a mask, possibly Black".

He is believed to be on foot.

A spokeswoman for Michigan State University confirmed to The Detroit News there had been one fatality.

"There have been shots fired near Berkey Hall on the East Lansing campus. Please secure-in-place immediately. Police are
active on scene," said a tweet at 8.40am.

Students were urged "to shelter in place" and police said in a later tweet there had been "another reported shooting", adding: "There are multiple reported injuries."

Lisa McClain, US representative for Michigan, tweeted: "There are reports of an active shooting on campus at Michigan State University.

"If you are there, police instructions are to Run, Hide, Fight. I am praying for all Spartans right now."

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said on Twitter that state police, university police and local officers were at the scene.

    USA! USA! etc.

48 days and 73 mass shootings in....

Mississippi mass shooting: Man kills ex-wife and five others

A man armed with three guns fatally shot his ex-wife and five others during a rampage in a small rural town in the US state of Mississippi, police say.

The victims were killed at several locations, including a store and two homes, in Arkabutla, a community of fewer than 300 people.

Police have charged a 52-year-old local man with first-degree murder and held him at the county jail.

No motive for his attack has yet been identified.

The suspect is believed to have acted alone, said Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves.

The rampage began when the gunman entered a petrol station convenience store at around 11:00 local time (17:00 GMT) and shot a man to whom he had no apparent connection, Sheriff Brad Lance said.

He then went to a nearby home where he fatally shot his ex-wife and,
according to CNN, struck but did not shoot her fiance.

Investigators say the gunman then drove to a home next to his own residence and fatally shot a man who may have been his stepfather, as well as an unnamed woman,
    the New York Times reports.

He then shot two people, one inside a car and one on the road, not far from his own home. The final two victims appear to have been construction workers on a job at the site, according to Sheriff Lance.

Deputies spotted the suspect inside a vehicle matching witness descriptions and were able to apprehend him near his home after a brief car chase.

"We don't have a lot of violent crime here. This is shocking," said Sheriff Lance. "I never dreamt that we would deal with something like that here."

He said the suspect had a shotgun and two handguns in his possession.

A primary and secondary school in nearby Coldwater were placed on lockdown during the incident, which unfolded 45 miles (72km) south of Memphis, in neighbouring Tennessee.

Ethan Cash, a 19-year-old local resident, told WREG-TV that he had seen the gun-toting suspect.

Mr Cash said he also checked the pulse of the victim who died inside his vehicle and drew his own pistol on an injured man nearby who turned out to be the victim's brother.

Friday's incident marks the 73rd mass shooting since the year began, according to the Gun Violence Archive (GVA) non-profit research database.

    The fucking place is nuts.

A woman was shot dead in front of her toddler in a supermarket car park after an altercation with a stranger in South Carolina.

Alexandria Borys, 26, was loading shopping into her car outside grocery store Kroger when she began arguing with a woman at around 2pm local time on Tuesday.

Christina Harrison, 23, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Borys in the back during the confrontation in the town of Irmo.

Borys’ children – a 2-year-old and an infant – were in the car when she was shot.

Is it not clear what sparked the heated argument between the two women.

NORTH PORT, Fla. - Police are investigating after they say a 6-year-old accidentally shot her grandmother while she was driving on Thursday afternoon.

According to the North Port Police Department, officers were called to the 4200 block of Tollefson Avenue around 3 p.m. after a woman called to say that her granddaughter shot her.

Police say the 57-year-old woman told them that the child got ahold of a gun that was in the backseat of the vehicle and accidentally fired a single shot through the driver seat, striking her in the lower back.

"A matter of inches, pointing the gun a different direction, we could have had more serious injuries to the grandmother, the child could have been injured," said Josh Taylor with North Port police.

According to officers, the gun was originally located in a holster, tucked in the back pocket of the driver seat, beneath a seat cover. Police said the grandmother had recently been to a gun range and left the gun in the car.

Today, the number of firearms in America is around 466 million.
As the nation prepares to ring in the new year, the U.S. Census Bureau today projected the U.S. population will be 334,233,854 on Jan. 1, 2023.

I'm thinking if granny is dumb enough to leave a loaded firearm in reach of a kid, she's probably dumb enough not to put the safety on either.

Authorities say a female shooter wielding two "assault-style" rifles and a pistol killed three students and three adults at The Covenant School, a Presbyterian school for about 200 students from preschool through sixth grade. The shooter was identified as Audrey Elizabeth Hale, a Nashville resident who identified as transgender. Hale died after being shot by police following the violence. Police said she was once a student at the school.
