tl;dr - the NRA sent an ill-advised tweet out telling doctors who treat gunshot victims to stop commenting on the gun issue with a trite 'stay in your lane'; doctors responded by telling NRA to go fuck themselves.
Who wants to be a 'Darkie' in the USA. The US still have a few issues with working out who the bad guy is...
Outcry after police shoot African-American security guard 'hero'
An armed security guard at a bar in suburban Chicago was killed by police as he detained a suspected gunman, according to officials and witnesses.
After gunfire erupted around 04:00 local time on Sunday, Jemel Roberson, 26, chased down an attacker and knelt on his back until police arrived.
Moments after police came on the scene, an officer opened fire on Roberson, who was black, killing him.
Friends say Roberson was a musician who had dreams of joining the police.
"The very people that he wanted to be family with took his life," Patricia Hill, the pastor of Purposed Hill church in Chicago, told WGN-TV.
Roberson worked as a gospel musician at several nearby churches, and also had found work at Manny's Blue Room in Robbins, Illinois, where the shooting occurred.
Sophia Ansari, a spokeswoman for the Cook County Sheriff's office, said police were called to the scene after a fight broke out in the bar and four people were shot. Witness Adam Harris told Fox32 that Roberson, who was armed with a legally owned firearm, then chased down and caught one of the attackers. "The security guard that got killed, he caught somebody and had his knee on him the whole time," Mr Harris said. "Just waiting on the police to get there. I guess when the police got there, they probably thought he was one of the bad guys, cause he had his gun on the guy and they shot him." "Everybody was screaming out 'security, he was a security guard'", Mr Harris added, "and they still did their job and saw a black man with a gun and basically killed him".
Images on social media show a chaotic scene outside the bar as witnesses shouted at police.
"He was protecting the club and holding a suspect down," Mr Harris told CBS. The chief of the Midlothian police, whose officer fired the fatal shot, said in a statement: "Upon arrival officers learned there were several gunshot victims inside the bar."
Chief Dan Delaney continued: "A Midlothian officer encountered a subject with a gun and was involved in an officer-involved shooting."
Illinois State Police's Public Integrity Taskforce have been asked to investigate the shooting, Ms Ansari told the BBC.
She added that the other four who were shot - including the offender" - suffered injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

...Choosing the bad guy isn't as Black & White as some people seem to think...
Fucking newspeak."A Midlothian officer encountered a subject with a gun and was involved in an officer-involved shooting."
It SHOULD say:
"A Midlothian officer encountered a subject with a gun and SHOT HIM DEAD."
USA! USA! etc.
A two-year-old boy is dead after finding a handgun under a pillow at his home and accidentally shooting himself, according to police in Jonesboro, Georgia.
Police responded Thursday to reports of a child shot and found a toddler with a gunshot wound to the body, said Capt. Scott Stubbs, a spokesman for the Clayton County Police Department.
The boy, who was not identified, entered a room where his father was sleeping and found a handgun under a pillow. The boy died after being rushed to a hospital, Stubbs said.

Multiple people, including police officer and shooter, wounded in 'active shooter' attack at Mercy Hospital
A Chicago police officer and multiple other people, including an apparent shooter, were wounded in an “active shooter” attack at Mercy Hospital on the Near South Side that brought out a large police presence Monday afternoon, authorities said.
The officer was critically injured in the shooting about 3:20 p.m. at or near the hospital at 2525 S. Michigan Ave., a police spokesman said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center for treatment.
“He is in critical condition but receiving excellent care,” police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. “Please send your prayers.”
In a tweet, Guglielmi said there were “reports of multiple victims” in the attack. Fewer than six people were believed shot, according to an official.
“At least one possible offender is shot,” Guglielmi said in another tweet.
About 4:40 p.m., the hospital announced by tweet that the Police Department had secured the hospital “and patients are safe.”

So it seems that all these 'Thoughts & Prayers(TM)' and 'Good Guys With Guns(TM)' aren't doing much of anything.
Odd.
Sheriff investigating the Parkland massacre says teachers SHOULD be armed so they can stop school shooters
The sheriff leading the state commission investigating Florida's high school massacre says he now believes trained, volunteer teachers should have access to guns so they can stop shooters who get past other safeguards.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, chairman of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission, said he will ask the panel to recommend state law be changed so teachers who undergo background checks and extensive training will be allowed to have guns on campus as a last line of defense. It's a proposal that both the state teachers union and PTA oppose.
Gualtieri told The Associated Press this week he long believed only law enforcement personnel should carry guns at school, but his position 'morphed' after studying other shootings and watching security video of the Feb. 14 Stoneman Douglas attack, which left 14 students and three staff members dead.
He said it 'gnaws' at him that suspect Nikolas Cruz stopped firing five times to reload his AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, but no teacher or other school employee could use those pauses to shoot Cruz.
The athletic director and a coach, both unarmed, died trying to stop Cruz and at least one teacher minutes later would have had a clear shot.

Agree totally!Sheriff investigating the Parkland massacre says teachers SHOULD be armed so they can stop school shooters
They should also park ambulances driven by chefs at the bottom of cliffs because installing safety barriers at the top is far too difficult!
Are there any other kind? But yes, moonlighting chefs... with guns.
Remember: the only thing that can stop a bad chef from spreading salmonella poisoning is a good chef. With a gun.
Sandra Parks: Anti-gun student, 13, killed by stray bullet
Two years ago, 11-year-old Milwaukee schoolgirl Sandra Parks wrote these words in an award-winning essay about the murders in her city."We are in a state of chaos. In the city in which I live, I hear and see examples of chaos almost every day. Little children are victims of senseless gun violence..."
On Monday night, aged 13, she was shot by a stray bullet fired into her home.
Her frantic family called 911, but Sandra died at the scene.
The girl's mother, Bernice Parks, told police she had gone to bed early while her children watched TV. She woke to the sound of gunshots shortly before 20:00, and found her daughter bleeding on the floor. "She said, 'Momma, I'm shot. Call the police,'" Ms Parks told TV station WITI. "I looked at her. She didn't cry. She wasn't hollering. She was just so peaceful... She didn't deserve to leave this world like that."
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett described the situation as "insanity", telling reporters: "Tragically, her death was caused by someone who just decided they were going to shoot bullets into her house, and she's dead. A 13-year-old, on Thanksgiving week, on a school night, in her bedroom, and she died."
Mr Barrett speculated that the shooter may have wanted to "settle a score, express anger, try to scare someone", saying on Tuesday: "All we know is that a 13-year-old died last night in her bedroom."

Another case of US insanity....
MAGA!
A man was taken to hospital in Arizona this week after shooting himself in the groin area inside a Walmart in Buckeye, Maricopa County.
The local police department tweeted on Tuesday officers were working what appeared to be a “self-inflicted accidental shooting” inside the Watson and Yuma Walmart.
Buckeye PD later confirmed in an update: “Adult male accidentally shot himself in the groin area inside the Walmart Watson & Yuma. Being transported to hospital. No other injuries.”
The Arizona Republic newspaper reported the incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. after a semiautomatic handgun that was being held in the man’s waistband began to slip. The gun, which was not in a holster, discharged as he attempted to reposition it, the man told cops.
The Arizona Republic reported when police officers responded to the gun shot the man was found in the meat section of the Walmart store with “survivable injuries.” Officers said they filed a report for the unlawful discharge of a firearm but it was believed to be accidental.
It was not immediately clear if the man would be charged by the local police department. The man’s identity and condition at the hospital was not made public by law enforcement.
Buckeye Fire Department also attended to the scene, officials said.

^ I think he's been punished enough.
Didn't read all of the posts but many. I did see quite a lot of good rebuttals and some dumb ones, especially where cutting down the US or the UK is concerned. Not necessary as we have always been allies after the Revolutionary War. I'm a gun owner and a hunter, and hold an ffl from previous work at Academy sporting goods in Texas. I've sold thousands of guns to people I didn't know beforehand and always wondered if they were disturbed, suicidal or homicidal. This, after passing the appropriate background check which checks for felonies and domestic violence. Texas now has an open carry law, which I kinda disagreed with, seeing that it does scare some people, and if you are a criminal about to either shoot or rob someone, and see someone with a gun, that's the first person you would target. Concealed, the element of surprise is there. As far as I've seen so far, no shootings have occurred from those carrying guns with the exception of those where they helped save others.Having school employees, properly trained, would save children from some off kilter maniac coming in to wreak havoc. As far as cops shooting innocent civilians, that's either an untrained rookie, a trigger happy one, or a cop who's very disturbed. Nothing will stop americans or any other countries people from killing one another. There are other means. But I don't go for semi auto rifles with large magazines. It isn't necessary for target shooting or hunting.

Keep telling yourself that bullshit and you might even end up believing it.
Look at other developed nations that don't allow any potential psychopath to purchase firearms and you'll find your country's homicide rates are on a par with the worst lawless shitholes on the planet.Nothing will stop americans or any other countries people from killing one another. There are other means.
Hmmmm...more Americans dying per year from drug overdoses than guns...almost double the amount.
Lets outlaw drugs! Oh wait...
https://www.thetrace.org/rounds/gun-...increase-2017/
Excluding most suicides, at least 15,549 people were killed by guns in the United States in 2017, according to data collected by Gun Violence Archive (GVA), a nonprofit organization that tracks media and law enforcement reports of shootings.
Gun Violence Archive makes its data available in real time, and the figure represents the first available estimate of gun deaths in 2017. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the FBI, which record firearm mortality and firearm homicides, respectively, typically take months to release year-end summaries of their data.
In December, the CDC published data showing 38,658 gun deaths for 2016, including suicides. The number of gun deaths recorded by CDC researchers has increased for two consecutive years.

Drug overdose deaths rose above 70,000 in 2017, an increase of almost 10 percent to a record high, according to government statistics out Thursday.
More die in traffic deaths too...as I suspected.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money...ths/340012002/
U.S. vehicle deaths barely declined in 2017 but remained notably higher than in 2015, according to a new report.
The National Safety Council estimated automotive fatalities topped 40,000 for the second consecutive year.
So lets ban cars, drugs and guns...stop the senseless slaughter! Protective bubbles for everyone.
