As has been well documented, they'd all but forgotten about this rag until the Civil Rights movement arose and then they started waving it around to wind up the blacks.

Actually no Hairy...that "rag," as you call it has forever been a symbol of Dixie. I even recall them being called "Dixiecrat's." Now that's rich innit?

All those progressives busy rewriting history and yet they actually emerge from the halls of the origin of that hatred...double standards yet again.

The main problem folks have around here is they really don't understand that this is a non-issue throughout the South. Not like folks in NYC have ever sat in a tar paper shack along the Mississippi river and and ate crawfish or fried okra along side working blacks and whites. I miss the South and their hospitality and openness.

I seriously doubt those folks down in Dixie are gonna take "Ol Dixie Down."

No one is going to tell them to take it down.

They are just deciding that it won't be flown on government buildings.

    So what's the big deal?

Of course the real answer is that if they demand it be flown on government buildings, the Satanists and the Gays will just demand their flags be flown too and then the idea won't look so fucking sharp, much like the Oklahama jesus wheezers and their silly ten commandments fiasco.

Yes, but have you ever given thought to the idea that "should stupidity reign supreme, I am fucked."? What do you think flags are about, if not the supreme reign?

The main problem is that a minute detail like the defeat of the confederacy is used to make the more progressive merkans, as far as this term can be applied, feel good about themselves and their history. The whole country of the USA was founded in order to maintain slavery, which the British were abolishing, and to commit the genocide of the red man to take his land and resources, which the British forbade. The British were the more enlightened and civilized people at the time, in contrast to the hypocritical self-serving men that were the founding fathers. Now it's by no means only the merkans with a history of atrocities and hypocrisy to cover it, every people still around did it at some time. The Russians in their conquests of Siberia and Central Asia who brought along German slaves to do the labour, the Anglosaxons destroyed the Celts and Picts, the Spaniards and Portugiese and Han get an dishonorable mention, etc etc. There is an older symbol of oppression than the Confederate flag, the one to justify the most harm done to fellow humans in all of history, and still in use for the very same purpose. Care to ban it?

^Rainfall, you know very little about American history. First of all slavery prevailed and flourished in the Southern colonies not the Northern colonies. It was brought to the Southern colonies by neer do well English planters who exploited slave labor to cultivate tobacco which was sold to England. The English planters created an elite lifestyle based on doing as little themselves as possible in contrast to the German farmers who came later and took a more hands on approach to farming. At the founding, the states were divided over the issue of slavery and the divisions were exacerbated by the additions of new territories. The British abolished the slave trade earlier than the United States. Slavery never existed in England proper because a manufacturing economy prevailed there but it did exist in British colonies where agriculture was predominant until well into the 1800's.

A minute DETAIL? It's what has shaped the U.S. as we know it today. If the war hadn't been fought or the result was different it would be a very different country today.

the only state that has legitimate ties to that flag is Virginia. It was the battle flag of the army of Virginia ONLY..... All the other southern states armies had their own battle flags.

after surrender Robert E Lee commanded that all battle flags of Virginia be taken down. Encouraged people to save them but never to be flown again. At his funeral at his wish... nobody was to be let in if they were wearing the confederate uniform, patch or ensign of any kind. He surrendered moved on and became a good citizen of the United States of America. Too bad the subsequent generations of white, toothless, welfare takin', walmart shoppin', jesus loving trailer trash could be as classy as their revered hero General Lee.

The Unexpected Ally Raising Cash to Rebuild Burned Black Churches

It’s well known that relations have been strained between Christians and Muslims since the Crusades. But in the aftermath of the burning of eight black churches across the South over the past two weeks, a campaign spearheaded by a seemingly unlikely group of allies shows what can happen when people set aside their differences.

A crowdfunding campaign launched a week ago by Muslim activists and organizations has raised more than $53,000 to help rebuild the burned churches, smashing the initial goal of $10,000 with donations from all over the world. The effort is being spearheaded by three groups: the Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative, the Arab American Association of New York, and the digital startup Ummah Wide.

“It’s Ramadan, and we are experiencing firsthand the beauty and sanctity of our mosques during this holy month. ALL houses of worship are sanctuaries, a place where all should feel safe, a place we can seek refuge when the world is too much to bear,” the activists wrote on the campaign website.

“There has not been anywhere near the amount of resources needed to rebuild these churches. The time is now, let’s unite to help our sisters and brothers in faith.”

The nation had barely begun to grieve the horrific killing of nine members of Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, on June 17—or wonder if prosecutors would pursue the death penalty for the alleged gunman, Dylann Roof—when the epidemic of black church burnings began. Several of the fires have been found to be arson, which led the Muslim activists to step up as allies.

“These kinds of attacks on Black churches are a very old form of intimidation in the South, historically used to strike fear into the hearts of Black people,” the activists wrote.

Wot, eight ligtning strikes across the south in two weeks on Black churches? That's some lightning man.

No one is banning the confederate flag, but it does not belong on state property. Unfortunately for the majority of dixielanders who do not fit this mold, it has been usurped by racists.

Do you really believe that Thor is deliberately targeting black churches?
I read that there is 1 black church per ~500-600 buildings in the South so
4000 buildings ought to have been set on fire by lightning during these two weeks..
