That has to happen as well. I don't minimize that. Putin is a mad man and totally unpredictable. It would be good if a stray missile took the bastard out.

Russia to Revive Soviet-Era Shops Selling Western Goods to Foreign Diplomats

Russia will revive the Soviet-era practice of duty-free shops for foreign diplomats, allowing them to buy goods no longer imported to Russia due to Western sanctions, according to a government order issued last week.

The stores could open in the capital Moscow and St. Petersburg shortly after the order takes effect on Aug. 27.

“The idea of opening special stores for diplomats is not new,” Senator Vladimir Dzhabarov, first deputy chairman of the Federation Council's Foreign Affairs Committee, told the state journal Parlamentskaya Gazeta.

“Back in the Soviet times, my friends worked abroad, and there were shops for diplomats, which had certain discounts. These outlets allow diplomats to freely buy goods that they cannot import or buy in the host country.”

The diplomat-only retailers hark back to the “Beryozka” retail chain, which sold foreign-made household appliances, clothes and even rare food items to foreign diplomats and citizens working in Soviet Russia.

The modern equivalents of “Beryozka” will be open exclusively to foreigners able to confirm their diplomatic status or affiliation with an international organization.

Some goods expected to appear on the shelves of the diplomat-only stores are alcohol, tobacco products, perfumes and beauty products, sweets, jewelry, smartphones and luxury watches. Purchases will be able to be made using rubles, dollars or euros.

The retail spots will be run by a Russian company in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry. The ministry, according to the published order, will have the right to routinely receive information about all buyers and their purchases.

In addition to becoming an oasis of foreign-made goods — many of which are already scarcely available in Russia — the shops are expected to become an additional source of foreign currency for the Russian economy, according to Dzhabarov.

Better, one big bang and fewer casualties, rather than many bangs, with many casualties.

One of eleven "events", reported yesterday.

Summary of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the progress of a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine (07082022)

"An arsenal was destroyed in the Voznesensk area of the Mykolaiv region, where 45000 tons of ammunition recently supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by NATO countries were stored."

What a brave person, and of course the scummy murderer will punish her for speaking the truth.

The Russian journalist who stormed the set of her own newscast to protest the invasion of Ukraine in the early weeks of the war is now facing criminal charges for another protest.
Marina Ovsyannikova — who was fined 30,000 rubles in March for the televised act of civil disobedience — had been detained and charged with spreading false information about Russia’s armed forces for a separate protest, her lawyer Dmitry Zakhvatov said in a Telegram post Wednesday.
The journalist’s home was also reportedly raided by Russian police Wednesday.
The charges stem from a public protest last month in which she held a banner that read, “[Russian President Vladimir] Putin is a killer, his soldiers are fascists. 352 children have been killed [in Ukraine]. How many more children should die for you to stop?”
Ovsyannikova’s attorney said Wednesday that the journalist will likely be held overnight by Russian police.
Ovsyannikova first made headlines as a producer for Russia’s state-run Channel One, when she ran onto the set of a live newscast in March holding a sign that read “Stop the war. Don’t believe propaganda. They’re lying to you.”

Aren't all the anti-Putin people 'prize wankers', sabang? How dare they say anything against the murdering scum. Love your grasp on expression of opinions - aren't you lucky that you're on TD or in Oz instead of Russia, China, N Korea . . .

The surplus of the current account of the balance of payments of the Russian Federation in January-July increased by 3.3 times

    Moscow. August 9th. INTERFAX.RU -

"The positive balance of the current account of the balance of payments of the Russian Federation in January-July 2022 amounted to $166.6 billion, which is 3.3 times more than in the same period in 2021 ($50.1 billion). Such information is contained in the assessment of the balance of payments of the Russian Federation, published on the website of the Bank of Russia.
As noted in the commentary of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the dynamics of the current account of the balance of payments was determined by the expansion of the positive balance of the total balance of goods and services as a result of a significant increase in the value of exports of goods and a decrease in the value of goods imports.

The positive balance of foreign trade in goods and services of the Russian Federation in the first seven months of 2022 increased by 2.5 times, to $192.4 billion compared to $75.8 billion in the same period of 2021.

The total deficit of other components of the current account of the balance of payments remained at the level of the previous year.

The positive balance of the financial account of the balance of payments was formed due to both a decrease in liabilities to non-residents and an increase in foreign financial assets of the economy.

The negative balance of primary and secondary income in January-July 2022 increased to $25.8 billion compared to the same period in 2021, when it amounted to $25.6 billion.

According to the previously published estimate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, in January-June 2022, according to preliminary estimates, the current account surplus amounted to $138.5 billion, the positive balance of foreign trade in goods and services - $158.4 billion, the negative balance of primary and secondary income - $19, 9 billion

Consequently, in July the current account surplus could amount to $28.1 billion, the surplus of trade in goods and services - $34.0 billion, the negative balance of primary and secondary income - decrease by $5.9 billion.

According to the base scenario of the Central Bank’s forecast for 2022, updated in July, with an average annual oil price of $80 per barrel, the current account surplus is expected to be $243 billion, the positive balance of foreign trade in goods and services - $277 billion, and the negative balance of primary and secondary income - $33 billion."

Why don't you just call ALL Russians and Ukrainians wankers. Your raisin picking just makes no sense at all

Now just imagine those poor Ukrainians would have never trusted those Russian scumbags in the first place?

For every bomb hitting Kyiv there would be one hitting Kremlin. Bye Bye Lenin

Ukraine has weapons it can use to attack Moscow?

Or are you referring to weapon systems being operated by, aimed by, authorised by, maintained by and supplied by, the 16% countries?

The big military base in Crimea which was destroyed 2 days ago. Official preliminary count 9 flighter planes destroyed. Public satellite images indicate a much higher number, plus a few helicopers.

They had, but gave them up for Russian guarantees. Which were lies, maybe Ukraine would have been better off keeping some nuclear missiles capable of destroying Moscow.

Long term contracts always have a reduced price. EU countries are finding that out as we post.
