Changed later to Ukraine to help then president Yuschenko, it did not work either. Nor his involvement with oil tycoons and with infamous Brezinsky, you can learn a lot what all he had tried...

Even for a mayor of Sochi before Winter Olympic he ended up with 14%, whilst it was won with 77%, very close?

His only achievement was opposition to Putin and support by Western big people (e.g. McCain), but what else he could offer?

There goes a story (among many others) about his assassination: It was known to him and to Navalnyj (and warning either) - that within next days is something going on against them. In fact, not by Putin, but as a "reward" by Chechen people for their support of the huge demonstration for "j' suis Charlie". Navalnyi took it seriously, organized pamflet showcase and let himself got jailed securely for 2 weeks. Not the proud guy Nemtsov, showing off his beautiful Ukraine girlfriend model ...

The assassins were caught within 2 weeks - quite a different time frame unlike many other famous assassins...

Who was their sponsor who paid them 15 mil. rubles, it's not really known, but guessed...

    Best ignore their empty replies.

It's similar to a group sitting around a table in a pub having a discussion. Occasionally the drunken one will mumble something. The others, politely, await for the drunk to see if the drunk's outburst continues, when nothing ensuing arrives, other than silence. They continue their conversation.

    Putin: A Russian Spy Story
    9pm, Channel 4

This year marks Vladimir Putin’s 20th in power and, after his recent dramatic overhaul of the Russian constitution, he could be president for much longer than the supposed end of his term in 2024. This three-part documentary sets out to expose the man behind the villainous myth. It features revealing interviews with the likes of Marina Litvinenko, the wife of the poisoned spy Alexander, as well as Boris Yeltsin’s daughter, Tatyana Yumasheva. It starts by charting Putin’s route from KGB agent to political fixer.

The level of confidence of Russians in Putin has grown

The approval rate for the activities of President Vladimir Putin on the day of the nation’s address in connection with the coronavirus increased compared to last week and amounted to 63.5 percent. These are the data of the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion ( VTsIOM ) published on the organization’s website .

The level of confidence also rose to 69 percent, the study suggests.

From March 16 to March 22, the average approval indicator for the activity of the head of state was 60.3 percent. When asked about confidence in Vladimir Putin, 67 percent of respondents answered positively.

The Russian leader addressed his fellow citizens on March 25. He called on Russians to show responsibility during this period, and declared the coming week non-working throughout the country. He asked citizens not to rely on the Russian Happiness and follow the recommendation to stay home.

Putin’s Approval Rating Drops to Historic Low: Poll

President Vladimir Putin’s approval rating has hit a historic low of 59% as the country grapples with the coronavirus crisis, the independent Levada Center polling agency said Wednesday.

According to Levada’s results from a phone interview in late April, when most of the country was under enforced lockdown measures, 33% disapproved of Putin’s work.

Putin’s previous lowest approval rating since he first became president, 61%, was recorded in June 2000 and November 2013.

The latest results mark Putin's lowest approval rating recorded by the Levada Center since September 1999, when he had a 53% approval rating shortly after being appointed prime minister.

The president has received criticism in recent months over his decentralized response to the coronavirus pandemic and what critics say is a lack of adequate measures to prevent economic collapse as the country remains under lockdown.

In April, Levada said that more Russian respondents approved of local officials’ coronavirus response efforts than they did of Putin’s. A recent state poll has also found that Russians’ trust in Putin has hit a 14-year low of 28%, the same figure as in Levada’s latest trust results.

The Kremlin on Wednesday said it is “not inclined to fully trust” Levada’s poll results.

“There are other surveys that paint a different picture,” spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying in a daily briefing.

The independent pollster found itself at the center of a censorship scandal at Russia’s leading business newspaper Vedomosti last month. Its acting editor-in-chief, who was installed after an announcement of the paper’s sale, was said to have banned coverage of Levada’s poll results because of an alleged order from the Kremlin.

Levada conducted the phone survey among 1,608 respondents on April 24-27.

It noted that April’s results contain a 4-6% discrepancy toward “greater loyalty to authorities” than in personal interactions.

“Thus, when reading the results, you can and should take into account the probability of a hypothetical ‘drop’ in certain indicators compared with personal surveys,” Levada said.

Don't worry only a few more years to before THE LORD beats Joseph Stalin's record.

Then the "experts" can compare and contrast the two's achievements.

You are among friends here at The DOOR OhOh.

Tell us about your feelings, why you hate the West so much and what you think started these negative feelings.

    We won't judge you.

We will only support you and provide neutral response prompts to help us explore this puzzle.

We can work through this together.

I suggest my feelings are common knowledge here on TD. I frequently illustrate my past, sometimes too openly. Unlike most who hide behind their mask.

People like Hoho are perennial underachievers who are simply jealous of others who have succeeded in a system that rewards hard work and intelligence.

People like Klondyke are people who wish they were like HoHo.

Tell us about yours, Looperwan. Why do you hate dear Vlad so much? Still buttsore about Crimea?
Is it because he is a competent, strong, popular leader of his nation who runs rings around our sad temporal clowns on a regular basis?

Except there's a difference between 'hating the west' and "hating"/disliking one man.

Lets put it this way. Would I prefer to live in a country like the USA, where middle class incomes and quality of life are declining, wealth inequality is obscene, the rich pay less tax than the poor, and minimum wage earners need food coupons to survive (even if their boss is worth over $100,000,000,000)? Where a higher percentage of their citizens are incarcerated than any other nation on earth? Where about 50% of the country has a $0 or negative net worth?

Or countries like Russia or China, which have experienced solid gains in average income & quality of life over the past quarter century, albeit off a low base?

Now that's a tough one, but as the saying goes- it's not where you are, but where you are going that matters. I sure do not like where 'merka is going, and would most certainly not choose to live there.

    No, actually. Let's not, thanks.

The US isn't THE western democracy and isn't where you originate nor where you choose to live. Same here, I wouldn't want to live in the US again. Been there, done that as a little kid (fantastic country), teen at uni (excellent place), work (great money but the society sucks).

I've also worked in China and you can't compare the rise in the standard of living looking simply at percentages, and you did mention that. China will never attain the living standard that many in the US have . . . and China still has hundreds of millions of poor peasants, let's not forget them.

I also remember visiting my parents when they were posted to Eastern Europe during the 'cold war'. Horrible, dark, oppressed, poor, underdeveloped . . . with a small percentage of the population doing well . . . like Russia now. The leaders using deadly force to quell dissent . . . gulags . . . a police state. A real police state, not one that people here complain about because youtube has deleted a hate-filled three minute vid. Oh, the acrimony.

It's not a matter of the US representing the western world, rather the systems that we choose to live in and compare them to China and Russia. I doubt you'd find many, if any, that live in Thailand that would swap to living in Vladivostok or Shenzhen even though Thailand is far from a democracy. I'd include OhOh and Klondye it that - they talk the talk but wold never walk the walk
