Well, this certainly appears to reflect good news re Sarko's start. Let's hope he can revive France from going completely to the dogs, eh?:)

But, the Brussels Journal thinks Sarkozy has negated his basic mandate by shifting his policies too far to the Left. The Washington Post notes Sarkozy has named a Socialist as his foreign minister.

Here's an update article on the current state of affairs with Sakozy and his plans, the National Assembly, and French public opinion. I don't know much about this but want to know more. (Maybe Butterfly can chime in.)

It seems many older folks are getting benefits, but the younger generation won't be, and there is high youth unemployment rates, and high entitlements paid out in welfare.

The main question was how badly the once-powerful leftists would lose.

he is going after massive tax cuts, and social tax cuts, a positive move, but at the end he is going to pissed off too many people.

Let's wait and see, at least on the right, he is the only candidate that makes sense. On the left, the Royal couple is utterly fucked. She should fire her husband, everybody hates him, even the lefties, he is a fucking whimp. She is fucking some other guy anyway, the Royal couple is there for appearance.

This is the French version of Reganomics while the Democrats in the US want to raise taxes. That's going to bite them in the ass in '08 for sure.

they are back on strike next week, actually Sarko lost that round as it said he wouldn't go to negotiation without an end to the strike

they have been negotiating for 4 days already and the strike was still there,

what a clown, no surprise you like him :)

Anyone who has followed the strike could see that first round went to
the railway workers.
