A few decades ago in the US, the term "white flight" was coined to describe the phenomenon whereby Caucasians were fleeing large cities (Atlanta, Detroit, Oakland, etc) due to the large increase in crime being committed by a growing inner-city population of primarily Negro (and in some cases, Latin) residents.

Now it appears, large numbers of "right wing/conservatives" are heading to conservative states (and in some cases giving up their US citizenship) or other countries to flee the out-of-control tax/fee increases, government regulations, and downright insanity of democratic approved legislation.

If this trend continues, can the US survive without the conservatives?

Maybe the US should split in two, the right side and the left side, with their own laws and governments.

Well, all you have to do is look at States like Texas with their booming economy and have a glance at Michigan which has been ruled by left wing moonbats for generations. Anyone want to live in Detroit?

The only ones giving up their US citizenship are extremely rich people who do it for tax reasons (and who come from both the right and left)- no one is doing it for any sort of political ideology as it's just not worth it due to the tax hit you take when you first renounce- without a huge income stream it's a foolish move.

I've not heard that phrase before. Perhaps it is only used by a certain demographic... ?

It is certainly interesting to ponder where the US might be now if we had taken Bush, Cheney and that whole rotten cabal and dumped them on a desert island.

The US can survive if the real conservatives come to their collective senses, and realise that what has been and is being shoved down their throat by the neo-republican party is not conservative at all- it is downright radical, irresponsible, and highly dangerous. When the rich, corporate sector and opinion leaders of a nation show by their actions and policies that they no longer believe in that nation, you got ploblems. So lets argue about lib'ruls instead.

The results of their folly are in black and white. You guys and us guys are living with it. I'm one of the lucky ones- the GFC only cost me around 150-200k or so, so I can still get by without greeting people at walmart. Sho' am glad I stayed out of the USD though.

An unrepentant bomber employed by the U. of Chicago (Bill Ayers) along with his old lady also unrepentant (Bernadine Dhorn) terrorist as a professor of law at Northwestern and recently another radical bomber - Kathy Boudin convicted of murder - killed two police officers and is now a adjunct professor of something at some Ivy League college. All through connections with the libs who have their priorities in really the wrong places.

No, America cannot survive with these Weather Underground types, the Van Jones, Jerimiah Wrights et. al.

Why not say mutant aliens? Or radical trotskyists? You can say anything on the damn internet. But you are yet to show many any pattern of action from the Obama administration that can be described as lib'rul. Actually, the ongoing strengthening of the security state and concentration of power in the Executive office more closely resembles emergent Autocracy. A squabbling and castrated Congress doesn't help matters.

There was a mass-shooting in Scott County Illinois last week, and when I looked a couple of things up, I see it's populated by whites to 99.5%. Weren't all the mass-shooters whites?

I think an exodus of the conservatives would make this country great again. There are beautiful places with no taxation, abortion, regulations, even legislation. How about Somalia?

Seems more and more lower end right wingers are willing to consider moving abroad in their old age, too. Some want to chase whores in Thailand and others just want to stay alive with what little they got from Reagan trickling down on them. I don't think their fore fathers would agree with them choosing foreign lands over America as that is close to denying the existence of God. Donald trump said he would be leaving if Obama stayed in. Still waiting on him to go where he's wanted. He can't be talking about Europe so maybe he is thinking of moving to the Cayman Island. For god sake Donald go and take all the trash who gather round you with you.

Unfortunately that is against the law (remember the Civil War?). Personally I would like to see that happen.

My guess is within 2 years, the "right" side would have to build a border fence (similar to what Israeli built to keep the Islamic terrorists out), in order to keep the "progressives" out.

If it were up to me, I would even let the "progressives" choose which side they wanted (west or east). I'm confident the "conservatives" could make either side a successful, economic powerhouse, with reasonable, well-enforced laws, and eventually chaos, bankruptcy, and anarchy would win out on the "progressives" side.

I wonder how many "progressives" would like to see the US split up?

Could it be because they (males) are the only group that is legally discriminated against in the USA when it comes to jobs, education, poverty, prison sentencing, and divorce?

It's not really mate, it's an accepted term to describe the phenomenon of whites moving out of areas as immigrants move in.

Been a few articles in the press about it fairly recently talking about the phenomenon in London and using the term:
