^^^ Forgot to add... Detroit is having a receiver sent in to run it next month. That's right, a City is actually going to be classed as bankrupt.

How the fuck does a country, that spends BILLIONS on war in areas that does not concern them, allow a city that was once the powerhouse of the US to go bankrupt? Just shows how corrupt the whole system is. There is an easy answer to the Detroit problem....pull 14,000 soldiers from Afghanistan FOR ONE DAY and that is ALL of Detroit's debt paid and covered.

    One word: Democrats.

The Democrat Party has been running Detroit for eons.

Stupid/retarded Democrats compared to their cousins in Chicago...

You are veering into HM territory now, PD.

The following ten cities have a great deal in common. The first thing is their poverty level. The second is that they mostly have been governed by Democrats over the years.
    1. Detroit, Michigan – 36.4
    2. Cleveland, Ohio – 35.0
    3. Buffalo, New York – 28.8
    4. Milwaukee, Wisconsin – 27.0
    5. St. Louis, Missouri – 26.7
    6. Miami, Florida – 26.5
    7. Memphis, Tennessee – 26.2
    8. Cincinnati, Ohio – 25.7
    9. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – 25.0
    10. Newark, New Jersey – 23.9

^ Appreciate that Dems / Liberals tend to spend on their credit cards more than they need to and forget to pay them off. However, the wars are what are crippling the economy along with paying blood money to the Fed (why?) - remove those two and the US would actually be able to grow the economy again.

DEFEND THE KING! Liberal Claws Come Out To Rip Bob Woodward

The left has become so damn predictable.

They have only one goal and that is to protect Obama at all costs. Now that Bob Woodward has threatened Obama, he must be discredited.

It doesn’t matter what kind of liberal pedigree you’ve honed over the years, if you say anything that makes Obama look bad, you will be punished.

Last June, Bill Clinton got a little too complimentary to Mitt Romney. Do you remember how that worked out? All of a sudden, liberals started suggesting Bill Clinton was getting senile.

    Yes, that really happened.

Bob Woodward, who liberals have praised since the 1970′s for his coverage of Watergate is no exception.

Now that he presents a threat to Obama, the long knives are coming out."

Bob Woodward better take out some extra life insurance.

Is this sequester really likely to go ahead? The republicans are committing electoral suicide then, and most likely the mid term elections will land the Democrats a safe majority in all houses, including big white.

That has been debunked time and time again, why do people keep stating it as a truism??

Yawn - just because you use the word debunked in every other post does not mean there is no accuracy in my statement.

All government spending is on debt - have to borrow money to spend it. Just like buying on a credit card. Tell me when was the last time a government debt in the US was actually repaid? Never ever in the last 20 years. Just paying the interest and borrowing more money to pay that interest. Just like getting credit card limit raised.

People say it because it is true.

Correct - there's no accuracy in your statement because it's based on a generalization that doesn't hold water, it's simply not true. Compare the economic records of Dem v GOP governments.

debt instrument by the US government aka US Treasuries are being repaid every year when they come to term, so the debt is repaid

or did you mean the whole outstanding debt ? what would they do that ? even corporations that make tons of money will always borrow more after they retire some of their debt. It's when they stop borrowing that you need to worry.

a government doesn't have an "equity tranche" in their accounting like corporations do, so their working capital needs to draw from debt, not equity or cash. In short, debt is all they have to run the system, that's how their "working capital" is financed.

Some could argue that holding Gold could be as good as cash and therefore creating an "equity tranche" that could lower the "working capital" needs and therefore the overall short term liabilities needed to run the government system. But Gold is not cash, and unless it's actively bartered or used as a collateral for more "debt", I don't see it as "equity" or lowering debt needs like some Gold Conspiracy Theorists would like to believe.

people say it because they are clueless idiots and they don't know how to make sense of it since they are too lazy or to stupid to learn about it

people are more interested in watching American Idol than understand and analyzing the needs of long term debt for a large government with massive short term liabilities

or they could run a balanced budget.

White House economic adviser Gene Sperling admits that, yes, in fact, the sequestration was President Obama’s plan.

This was after Barack Obama in the presidential debates and said it was a Republican idea.

So what else is new? That his lies are becoming more and more blatant or what?

The rethugs are condeming the White House for originating the idea of sequestration while taking credit for the 85 billion in budget cuts. What a bunch of hypocrites.
