In a general sense McCain seems a lot like John Kerry, an opportunist who married into money in order the pay his way in politics. However unlike Kerry who is generally harmless, McCain is a nasty piece of work.

This is what some posters have mentioned: the white vote. And this is what I'm concerned with. As the campaign goes into the final phases, a racial divide on voting may happening. It's disappointing:The White Stuff
A new NEWSWEEK Poll underscores Obama's racial challenge.

Link & Entire: NEWSWEEK Poll Underscores Obama's Racial Challenge | Newsweek Politics: Campaign 2008 | Newsweek.comEven as he closes in on the Democratic nomination for the presidency, Sen. Barack Obama is facing lingering problems winning the support of white voters--including some in his own party. In a new NEWSWEEK Poll of registered voters, Obama trails presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain 40 percent to 52 percent among whites. Sen. Hillary Clinton, Obama's challenger for the Democratic nomination, also trails McCain among white voters but by a smaller margin, 44 percent to 48 percent. (For the complete results, click here).
Among voters overall, however, Obama fares better, tying McCain 46 percent to 46 percent in a hypothetical match-up.
............
I presume Stroller was joking.
McCain is not very religious and many of his views are anathema to the religious extremists (or, religious right).
He does need a portion of them to go to the polls, however, so he may say some coundbytes, and even waffel if necesarry towards the end of the campaign. Or, maybe he won't.
He will likely rely on the near surety the religious right will not vote for Obama.Originally Posted by Milkman

isn't that about 9 seconds per page?
Medical files indicate McCain in reasonably good health
The Republicans are stuck with him. As John says and I agree, "it is what it is". GOP will have to figure out a winning strategy and so far I don't see one springing out.Originally Posted by Boon Mee

GOP strategists mull McCain ‘blowout’ - David Paul Kuhn - Politico.comthe contours of the electoral map, combined with McCain’s unique strengths and the nature of Obama’s possible vulnerabilities, have led to a cautious and muted optimism that McCain could actually surpass Bush’s 35-electoral-vote victory in 2004. Though they expect he would finish far closer to Obama in the popular vote, the thinking is that he could win by as many 50 electoral votes.
Seems to be the same argument Hillary is using. Another thing of note is although McCain has raised little money, the Rep Party has a much larger war chest than the Dems. This is always a factor.Originally Posted by raycarey

But, as he always does, he prefers impugning the motives of his opponent, and exploiting a thoughtful difference of opinion to advance his own ambitions. If that is how he would behave as President, the country would regret his election."
Regret? Regret? BO in the White House would be a National disaster!!

A Deplorable Bitter Clinger

^ Didn't he have a proxy?
Anyway, McCain went on Ellen Degeneres show, where she attacked him for his anti-gay marriage stance. He held up fine. Let's see BO on Fox.
Obama obviously is not a demented 'nam vet, good for him.
Actually, in his honour and respect for Veterans, John McCain was being criticised by Obama for his rejection of a bill that would increase benefits to Vets.![]()
Why should the nanny state take care of non-performing losers?
Is McCain a commie?
Heh!

The whole issue was over school funding for only three years of service. McCain figures folks will leave the services after that term if they get free education. Armed forces personnel get lots of training within the services, too.
just the majority of the ones who post in issues.

I know of two...count 'em two Viet Nam Vets posting in Issues & neither fit your model there...![]()

The most experienced Vietnam Vet that I know of on Issues is not a Right Wing DukeNuke'm at all.![]()
