    No pressing national defense issues (other than Iran with the Bomb) exist right now so no need to wheel out a General or two this go-around.

    There was no over-riding necessity to bring the Tea Party credentials to the forefront during the RNC. There might have been some devisiveness if Palin & Michelle Bachman were speakers though.

    ^ there have always been these types of nuts in the republican party...but back in the day, they were kept in a cage by the establishment.

    the current crop that makes up the establishment was so desperate for any type of victory in 2010 that they let their party be over run by these teabilly f-sticks....and now they don't know what to do with them. it's glaringly obvious to anyone with even the slightest amount of political acumen that they're a danger to the party's long term goals, but it's equally undeniable that they essentially make up what is today's GOP base. it really is quite a mess.

    can you even imagine what william f. buckley jr. would have to say about the current state of the republican party?

    castro's keynote was kind of average--not sure he's ready for primetime.

    the first lady, however, hit it out of the park.

    Tammy Duckworth's speech was very effective. It only underscored Romney's total lack of recognition for the troops risking their lives in Afganistan.

    Strange how in some countries a Presidents/ministers spouse suddenly becomes someone who is given a privileged right and platform to voice their opinions, like in this case, is washing Obamas underwear and dirty socks and minding his children a political qualification endorsed by voters,- no don't think so, neither is it Democratically correct.

    and btw, if you're not an american woman over the age of 18 living in one of the swing states, she really wasn't talking to you. this speech was all about motivating women to vote for obama in november...and in that regard, it was pitch perfect.
