^^Obama has made enough missteps (the banks, the drones, the wimpiness in the face of Republican opposition) and offended a sufficient number of his supporters that if the Republicans hadn't degenerated into the pack of craven fools dominated by knuckle-dragging rednecks (aka, the Tea Party) they might have been able to nominate someone who could draw off votes (the other Mormon, Huntsman, for example). Instead they have the comically absurd Romney, a man running against his own former positions who effortlessly makes himself look out of touch, but was himself was head and shoulders above the other nominees. There is no room for a Chuck Hagel or Buddy Roemer in today's Republican Party, not to mention an Eisenhower or, for that matter, a George Romney. It's damned shame.

Yes, it's the illusion of choice. Well, there is a choice: the lessor of the two bad.

Looks like tight polling. 16 weeks to go.

    The election will happen soon.

The Washington Times article posted by Panty Hamster is a good read.

The Times article links to this:

Earlier I read the money congress has just cut from the SNAP program was now going to Big Agriculture as a subsidy instead. Sorry, no link. I'll try to find it again.

To any rational, objective observer, it is. In further news, we see just how insidious the Obama administration is by pushing Food Stamps among the illegal aliens. How low can these A-Holes go?

The government has been targeting Spanish speakers with radio “novelas” promoting food stamp usage as part of a stated mission to increase participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamps.
Each novela, comprising a 10-part series called “PARQUE ALEGRIA,” or “HOPE PARK,” presents a semi-dramatic scenario involving characters convincing others to get on food stamps, or explaining how much healthier it is to be on food stamps.

Who is behind this? Some people should love their jobs over this. Insanity. Encouraging people to use food stamps. I think if someone cannot afford sufficient food they can go in themselves for food stamps. And, Spanish speakers?

USDA buckles, removes Spanish food stamp soap operas from website
    July 13, 2012

    By Caroline May

Following The Daily Caller’s expose of the United States Department of Agriculture’s food stamp outreach to Spanish-speakers via radio novelas, or Spanish language soap operas, the agency removed the series from their website.

Each of the 10 novelas promoting the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamps, had been available as a resource for state and local outreach partners as late as Thursday.

The page, formerly containing the audio and Spanish language scripts was “modified” Friday, eliminating the novelas.

The series had been promoted as a resource to increase SNAP participation. They were produced and written in 2008.

Corporate welfare always exceeds the welfare that goes to poor people. It's the nature of the system.

    Lesson in irony.

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is actually proud of the fact it is distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals."

Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.

You think you have a problem ? When your government not only hands out food stamps but also houses illegal Mexican immigrants newly arrived in the country in a 3000 Dollar a week mansion in the best part of DC and he pays no bills or taxes then you can complain.
I do worry though for the USA if enough suckers vote in the black Tony Blair yet again

The whole show is smoke and mirrors designed to distract people from the knowledge that their freedom and liberty are being systematically eroded with each passing election.
I don't think it matters who get's elected. The looting and the charade will continue regardless under a system ruled by money and not ethics.

This is from the media so I will assume it's true - but - verify. We must.

    If true, this is disgraceful:

]USDA partnering with Mexico to boost food stamp participation
    Published: 07/19/2012

    By Caroline May

USDA has an agreement with Mexico to promote American food assistance programs, including food stamps, among Mexican Americans, Mexican nationals and migrant communities in America.

“USDA and the government of Mexico have entered into a partnership to help educate eligible Mexican nationals living in the United States about available nutrition assistance,”
the USDA explains in a brief paragraph on their “Reaching Low-Income Hispanics With Nutrition Assistance” web page. “Mexico will help disseminate this information through its embassy and network of approximately 50 consular offices.”

As far as the carefully-worded press release goes, I'm not to outraged.
But "Mexican nationals and migrant communities in America" should not be on Bobo's tits.
Fukkin' Mexican government is teaching it's illegal criminal feral fukkers living illegally in the US how to get Bobo's aid.

What kind of American would support this? Nine percent of Americans have no jobs, and the Mexican government is teaching it's citizens how to leech on to Bobo's welfare teats.

    Shameful

As Food stamps was mentioned in another thread, I'd like to add more info and comments on this food stamp thread, and hope other will chime in.

46 million Americans are on Food Stamps. With a population of 314 million that is a high percentage of people who cannot afford to eat. As the article below states, that is more than 1 out of 7. One out of seven people cannot afford to eat.

    Do you believe this?

    From CNN:

Government wants more people on food stamps
    By Tami Luhby @CNNMoney June 25, 2012

The federal government is running radio ads to boost enrollment in food stamps.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- More than one in seven Americans are on food stamps, but the federal government wants even more people to sign up for the safety net program.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has been running radio ads for the past four months encouraging those eligible to enroll. The campaign is targeted at the elderly, working poor, the unemployed and Hispanics.

In the 'strongest economy' thread there have been questions and discussion about 'food stamps.'

    This thread has recent info.

People (IMO) should not link the increase in food stamp usage to the 'bad economy.'

It has become another entitlement program.

^I mentioned food stamps on the other thread where I linked an article about declining wages while corporate profits hit a record high.

Barbaro, you said on the other thread you thought SNAP was a scam, saying people you know get food stamps but are undeserving of benefits. Why? Are those people scamming the system or do you think it is too easy to qualify?

    What makes SNAP a scam?

    Both.

Gov makes it too easy to qualify. This also makes it a scam by the government (another entitlement) and people scam the system because they qualify for something they do not need.

Food stamps are also sold on the streets.

You can break a $20 food stamp by buying one banana for .25 cents for example, and get $19.75 cash back.

Last year, a friend of mine had a heart attack and became unable to work. He is rather young, a legal immigrant working in the US for 12 years who does not qualify for social security disability. It is a struggle for him to care for his son who is in his last year of high school. I told him to apply for SNAP. It was not easy for him to get it. Took a couple of months for him to do so due to the amount of documentation he had to provide. He found the whole process very humiliating and nearly gave up. Finally he was approved.

They issued him a card, not unlike a credit card. He can only use it himself with other ID. He cannot take it into a store, buy something and get cash back. It cannot be transferred or sold or even used by his own son.

He told me he had seen alcoholics abusing SNAP by taking the card into a shady convenience store and having the clerk ring up food products when they were acutally selling beer. The price they pay for this beer is twice what the shop sells it for normally.

It is children who most often allow for their families to be eligible for a SNAP card. It's very hard for a single person to qualify for any government benefits. If kids have a parent who goes out and buys beer or drugs with the money they somehow finagle out of the system, I think it is an anomaly, not the norm.

Wages are depressed. People making $12 an hour with families can't make it without government help.

^ Is that just a rumor about people using SNAP cards in a casino? Have you a source for your info?
