    Rudy Giuliani

is it 'giuliani time' for america?

his personal life is mess.... i don't even think hillary envies him.

he's far too socially liberal. you see, he actually knows homosexuals and realizes that they aren't a threat to society, and should be able to adopt children if they want to. he's also pro-choice. whoops.

he's been coasting for years on his (admittedly) stellar performance on 9/11...but the city was sick of him the day before.

but perhaps we should get a glimpse at the man who would be president by his....what is she...his third wife? i'm sorry i lost track after the newscaster.

but anyway, here's the most recent wife on her husband...

"I've always liked strong, macho men, and Rudy - I'm not saying this because he's my husband - is one of the smartest people on the planet," gushed the former Judith Nathan to Harper's Bazaar in editions due out Feb. 20.
"What people don't know is that Rudy's a very, very romantic guy. We love watching 'Sleepless in Seattle.' Can you imagine my big testosterone-factor husband doing that?"
Describing Rudy, a former federal prosecutor, as "the Energizer Bunny with no rechargeable batteries," Judi said, "One of the most remarkable things about my husband, who sleeps three or four hours a night, is his energy level and stamina.
'RUNNIN' MATES' JUDI 'N' RUDY AIM FOR '08 By STEPHANIE GASKELL and KATE SHEEHY - Nationalnews - New York Post Online Edition

diaw better not see that bit about being one of the smartest people on the planet, or there's going to be trouble.

    but anyway, back on topic.....

what do you think of rudy's chances?

The bloke is a wanker, he closed down most of the strip clubs and nightclubs in New York when he was mayor, turned Times square into Disney land as well.

I've never believed in the "Rudy Hype."

Why do people make such a big deal of a two-term mayor of a big city?

    9/11 is one reason.

    We'll see.....

with bush fumbling, bumbling and hiding in the hours following the attacks, the nation had to look somewhere for leadership, and rudy rose to the occasion.

I guess he should have had an F102 fueled and ready so he could have shot those fuckers down, right... since he knew about it ahead of time...right....In fact he planned it...right...He could have looked like a real hero if he'd been on the ball!

most posters can easily spot your strawmen arguments.

regardless, this thread is about giuliani (sp?).....why not offer some 'intellectually responsible' comments?

Whatever you think of the guy, you can't deny that he was instrumental in clamping down on organised crime and turning New York into one of the most wonderful cities in the world. It's so much safer than it was and whether he screwed up in his personal life or not, or what people might think of his performance during and after 9/11, this shouldn't detract from the good things he did for the city.
The truth is out there, but then I'm stuck in here.

Rudy did some positive things for the city, no doubt.

But crime rates fell in other cities all over the country also.

He is a wanker. NYC would have been doing fine even without him.

He is also an attention whore like that flipflop, McCain.

Most posters here can also spot cheap shots like you seem prone to.
We already where you stand on the subject of GWB.

I'd say Giuliani made a better accounting of himself than Ray Naggin did during Katrina.

Rudy has good presence and speaks well. I think he will be a good candidate who could go toe to toe wilh Hillary well.

gewliani(sp?) was a mayor...why is it that people assume he's capable of handling foreign affairs?

Giuliani was a federal prosecuting attorney prior to running for Mayor of NYC, so I would assume he has a grasp of federal legislation. Probably also understands the futility of trying to legislate "morality," hence the pro-choice stance.

As to any grasp of international policy, well....we continue to see governors putting themselves in the race as candidates, and state office won't qualify anyone as a foreign policy wonk. The only governor running now who is qualified on that level is Bill Richardson of New Mexico, who was a former U.N. ambassador.

The Giuliani policy doesn't really affect me -- I won't vote Repub.

ol' rudy is going to have to consider running as an independent, because there is no way in hell he's going to get the republican nomination once people start hearing about this...

    I agree with Ray, regretfully.

The Evangelicals are needed for the GOP nomination, unless a large percentage decided to sit this season out, or support a second or third candidate.

Have a 'non-religious' cow-towing moderate in the GOP would be great.

There are a lot of non-religious (practicing) moderate independents in the dead Center.

I don't think Rudy can get the Nom without the Xtians.

But if he did, this would be GREAT for the GOP.

Time magazine made him Man of the Year in 2001. The remember definition they seek is: Person or persons who most affected the news in our lives whether it was for good or bad and embodied what was important about the year. For better or worse.

Anyone with half a brain would conclude that Sheikh Osama Muhammed Bin Laden was clearly the the man of 2001 (by their definition) What the fuck did Ruddi do that was memorable other than let some foolish IRA supporting firemen kill themselves???
They champion falsehood, support the butcher against the victim, the oppressor against the innocent child. May God mete them the punishment they deserve
