A "bump" is considered temporary, so I will be more specific: did Romney get some of the undecideds to vote for him in the battleground states because of this debate performance?

If the undecided vote had not made up their minds prior to this, they will not have made up their minds now. Romney still has a way to go to show his plans are what he says they are. He is also being accused of serial exaggeration in the debate as well as backtracking on his previous statements. He will have to overcome that to get win the undecided vote.

In a remarkable reversal of fortune for President Obama in Ohio, the GOP has closed the huge gap in absentee ballot requests used by early voters that favored the Democrats and the president in 2008, setting up what one state analyst said could be a Mitt Romney blowout on Election Day.
Ryun, whose group has opened voter registration efforts in Ohio and other swing states, said that the Buckeye State's efforts to clean up voter rolls has also played a part in tightening the gap. He said that 450,000 dead voters and duplicate registrations have been nixed, and the majority were Democrats. (yep, that would help)

Voter registration is good for the Republicans but very bad for Democracy. Shame on them.
Not sure about that but I know that voter ID requirements are bad for democracy. If we had a mandatory photo national ID card it would not be a problem but there is no legal requirement for people to have a photo ID.Quote:

^Much of the problem is that states have different requirements regarding ID. Some states have adopted very dodgy laws for this upcoming election. One of the biggest problems are states not allowing student ID for voting. At the same time they are allowing anyone with a gun permit to vote. If you work out they why, it is obvious.
People have used their social security cards as ID in America since they were first issued. Many older citizens still use them if they have no drivers license as there is not another national ID. SS cards have no photo. In many states, photo ID is required to vote.
I was looking at the issue of having to show a government issued photo ID to register to vote rather than just the process of registering. Sorry for any confusion.Quote:

What if you don't/can't drive and don't go overseas on holiday?
What if you are poor/useless and can't/don't want to get one of the above?
Does this mean you should be disenfranchised?
This is a Republican driven initiative to cheat poor voters out of their already minimal rights in order to help Republicans win elections.

I am a Republican, but I do not see a bright future with our choices. Back in the day I used to be fond of Perot becuase of what he did for his employees in the M.E (look it up).
I always have thought that Collin Powwel and Connie would be a dream team. Australia is a country the USA needs to follow as far as economies go. We have factories that sit idle when we can do our own. We have resources, infastructure, and ability to do it ourselves. Why outsource?
I see the same in Thailand.

Gun licenses (CCP) Concealed Carry Permits or Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permits are very stringent.
I have one.
You must fill out a form, give your finger prints, and it is sent to the FBI in Quantico.
Then a couple/few weeks later you are allowed to go to the local police station and get a permit, again with finger prints on the permit. It's usually valid for 2 to 5 years depending on the state.
Personally, these are a good thing IMO, and people with these permits rarely, rarely commit crimes.
It's deterrent.
