I got asked by someone to post the monkey shot where the flash didn't go off.

Here it is. actually if you photoshop this pic, the detail is all in the shadows and you get get a good shot, but too noisy.

Oh and sunsetter, yes, you can nick, if you tell me which one and what resolution you want i'll send you a bigger file, up to 5616 x 3744

    50. Another type of bird.

    51. The green of this field was spectacular. I said that to my wife and she said the rice was unhealthy if it was that colour, needed to be darker.

    52. went to visit the brother in laws ducks, got over 900. they are a noisy bunch.

    53. Fights are common among the population.

    55. Another egret shot.

    56. One of the shots i used to make the ill thought of panorama.

    57. Another flying egret, not a great shot but I liked it.

    58. Loved this moth, was so difficult to take this with the very small depth of field. Was trying to capture the wonderful antenna.

    60. Juicy fat spider. I like this shot because it really demonstrates the limited depth of field with a large aperture.

    61. I've always loved these great big water pots, each house has 5 or 6.

    62. group of small boys

    63. On the way back to town there was a procession taking a young man to the temple to be encarserated, indoctrinated or whatever the word is.

    64. went back via the market.

Right, need to fionish this thread so I can start work on my next one, just spent a week in Krabi, but the weather was as grey as NST so a fair bit of non scenic stuff.....

On the way back into Nakhon Town I stopped off at the most famous temple in the south, Wat Mahathat. I think I've done a thread on this temple before.

The weather was terrible and the chances of good pics slim, so I have done quite a bit of hand held HDR.

    65. the main chedi, said to cast no shadow.

    70.

    71.

    72. The inside area at wat mahathat has a very hindu feel to it, not like Bangkok temples at all. Usually it is claustrophobic and smoky, but today the stairs up onto the chedi were open and it totally changed the atmosphere.

    77. Lastly as we got back into town I made a quick stop at Wat Jamchuumaidai Worawiharn. Old and run down but I'd imagine important on it's day.

    78.

    79. I has quite a large amulet market going on. Amulets are quite collectable in Nakhon Sri Thammarat which I believe is the home of the jatukarm Ramathep amuthingy. Not the prettiest thing I've ever seen and I have 2. No, I have never and never will worn them.

    ???

Where did I say it was home to a huge Air Force / Helicopter base?

Hallucinagenics working well when you read my posts?

FYI it's the 4th Army headquarters base and it spreads for quite some distance on the town side of the 'city'.'

Driving in from the airport you go through several kilometres of it. The base airport is still there and the control tower is next to the main road.

That served as the airport for the area whenI first flew to NST on TG.

My bad, 'huge army base' you said. Yes, Fort Wachirawud (sp?). Yeah I remember when that was the airport too. TG Propeller planes, twice a week from BKK and landing next to the fairway on Hole 1 of the golf course. The girls at Don Muang would ask, ''Chiang Mai or Phuket' and when you said NST there was always a look of surprise on their faces. Not many farangs here then. I think there were two in town at the time, me included. Incidentally, there are still a small number of military aircraft and helicopters that still use the base.
    Enjoy Krabi.

Yes, they would always ask why i wanted to go there.

More used to farangs getting on planes to udon for a holiday with the missus.

In those days my wife lived in Chienyai, but that has now changed to chalermprakiet.

Same house just changed the district.

You had to get to her house by boat, there was no roads.

Now the boats are gone in fact at the moment the canal is so low that the fish are struggling to swim in it.

Been back from Krabi for several weeks now, was fun, thread already completed. Only bangkok for me for the time being....
