I have gone fishing in Ayutthaya lately with a crazy Luxembourgian sword maker. You should see how he filets those things. There are tons of fish locally that I have never seen before. They don't sell them at the market either. I want to start photographing them so that they can be indentified later. There seems to be many river catfish mostly.

My Thai girlfriend caught me fishing, so she told me that the bad kharma would result in my growing a fish head in hell. I argued that I was helping the fish by rushing their process of reincarnation - speed up the rate of their becoming human. She didn't think I was very funny. However, she later laughed her ass off when I cut myself shaving. She said that it only proved my bad kharma.

The size you'd catch in this thing won't need gutting. Straight into the frying pan - gopgop!

Is it the way he is holding the rod ?

I've always wondered why faggots have to bring gay crap into a thread about anything other than gay shit.

Back on topic, all fish should be gutted and cleaned.

Back on topic, apparently not, we gut them (both cat fish and pla nin) even the small ones that go for curry. We actually get some good sized fish with that thing. Stale bread works quite well as a bait in them scrunched up into balls
I have more than the average number of arm and legs

Do you get crayfish in Thialand? Obviously there are lobsters here and I've seen those smaller things that they call Rock Lobsters, but I don't think I've seen fresh water ones.
The biggest fresh water crustacean I have ever consumed was on the Mekhong, close to the junction with the Mun river. Three of them actually, with company, each a foot long or more.
There is a farm in Cambodia which has introduced Australian Yabbie's (thats crawfish for you Yanks). Yet another ecological disaster in the making, but you can buy them to eat quite cheaply at the Bourbon in Washington square, Bkk.

Did you ever get one Theyim?

I just bought my nephew a rod and reel as a reward for helping plant the garden up so splashed an extra 20B for the net and bait holder.
    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

Tackle shop here didn't know what I was talking about.
Might be my bad thai of course but I couldn't see anything in the shop that looked similar. Maybe this hi-tech stuff hasn't reached the sticks yet.

The nephew tried fishing with a conventional hook and sinker and threw the net in on a free line.

After the hook got snagged and broke the line he tied the net onto the line on his rod and caught twenty fish.

    He was well pleased.

Mind you I am eating steak tonight, free fish or not.
