    Death of a farang

Hi, my father Lung William (Trevor Williams) used to post on here, and he sadly passed away last week. We are his daughters and have flown here to sort things out. We have got a death certificate in Thai and we hope it really is a death certificate, we also have assumed that the hospital he died in notified the local police. Does anyone have any further advice of what we might need to do before we return to the UK? If any of you do have thai wives, make sure that you make a legal will, but that you also discuss your funeral arrangements with your wife as they will automatically assume that you want a buddhist cremation and want to stay in Thailand - so if this is not the case, then you must speak to them about it.

Very sorry to hear of your loss and please accept my condolences. One thing you might do is take the death certificate to the UK consulate to see what they might advise.

    My condolences as well.
One thing you should do if you have time before you leave, is get a translation of the death certificate from a company that can certify it.

    RIP

I just read your post and I am really sorry for your loss . The only advice is contact the embassy in Bangkok or if in Pattaya the consulate I think his name is Howard Miller I am sure some of our friends here from the UK will know that one. I would just once again pass on my condolences to you and family. The advice about wills is correct and its some thing all of us that are married I know of a case that caused dreadful problems for both his Thai and western family so its food for thought.
