    Hike to trip to Phraya Nakhon Cave and Beach area

    We went off today to check out the Phraya Nakhon Cave in Pran Buri. It was an easy drive and took about an hour from Cha am. There are 2 ways to get to the cave. I chose the walking/hiking way for the exercise, It is a 1km hike at a 6 to 10% grade. then at the base on a very secluded beach the trek to the cave is .5km but at a 12 to 15% grade. So if you are going to do the walk wear good shoes, sandals and flip flops not advisable.

    Here are a few of the pics from the trek

    All in all it was a great trip. Did not cost anything but some time and effort hiking. The cave is really amazing. there are 2 others in the area that we did not visit but will.

    I think it is part of Sam Roi Yot National Park, supposed to pay to get in but obviously covers a massive area so easy to miss where to pay especially if hiking.

    Yes you can, about the middle of the beach is a typical food stand and it sells your well appointed Thai compliments of beer. Also at the base before the hike over you can stock up and carry over, 1Km is really not that far. The beach was simply awesome. Now we went in the middle of the week, I have no idea if this is a weekend hangout. It sure did not look like it. Btw, you can also rent a bungalow and stay on the beach or bring a tent and camp.

    DD, I expected the same but we came across nothing. However like you said we went in a back way and probably bypassed it. There was no fee to park and the hike over was free and no fee for the cave.

    They are different. The panoramic view is the beach at the base before the hike over to the other beach. Both were completely empty.

    Below are a few more pics to help clarify;

    Here is the view as you descend down to the secluded beach before you hike up to the cave. I did not walk around the corner to see how far it went.

    [/IMG]

    Here is the view looking the other way on the secluded beach. It was clean, white sand, no garbage, no people, was kind of like a travel magazine deal. This is the first beach where I have seen multiple garbage cans to dispose of refuse.(recycles, paper waste, bottles/glass/plastics etc.)

    [/IMG]

    According to my GF she believes you can have them motor you over to the other nearby islands for the day. Probably a small fee and the ride is in a medium sized outboard motored rubber raft boat. There were 2 on the beach. I think camping there would be a lot of fun as well. They had bathrooms and showers so if you have a family you can cover the basics.

    Anyway hope these additional pics help.

    Sam Roi Yod

    You can take a boat from Phu Noi Beach in Dolphin Bay about 3km north of the cave. They can oragnise one from The Koram Resort.

    There are plenty of small eateries along the beach - great for a relaxing holiday.
