Oh, I collaborated on a book on teaching during the pandemic- it's been a bit of a process and taken the best part of a year, so it is weird I keep forgetting about it. Not published in my name...

^ Not anytime soon, I like the community atmosphere of being in a school and enjoy the social and emotional stuff as much as the academic, perhaps I bit more. Plus those international school benefits...
I suppose in a manner of speaking I have, most of it has centered around trying to maintain something that resembles a normal social like while locked down. I've been hosting zoom coffee meeting and...
The river is flowing again and it feels like spring is finally here after the long freeze. At least walks are permitted this lockdown.

Yeah, it looks like I will be here until 2022, which I am fine with for the most part. Nice new apartment and a 3 month vacation starting at the end of May. It could be much worse. Good luck with the...
I thought about it for a bit, and have decided against it. Would be a pretty piss poor example to set to the kiddos if I just flounced away from the problem. I'll stick the contract out until next...
I'm from England, actually "where next?" has been on my mind a bit more than it usually would be at the moment. I like places (and seem to do a lot better) in places that are considered hardship or...
Another day of online "teaching" today, I suppose I shouldn't be so pissy, I do think that the challenge has probably a better teacher in terms of using technology and adapting to the everchanging...
I tried to go shopping today, fat chance of that, they have chained all the gates shut- new level of lockdown.
This is getting a little concerning, I'm not worried about catching it but months and...
Yeah, I have, I got the Sputnik vaccine and it certainly elicited an immune response on my second dose!
Today I thought it pretty surreal that Burberry and Versace are allowed to deliver but my...
Still working online, still in lockdown, this one quite strict. Would not recommend pandemics.
Last night was strange and one for the books. About 40 mins after closing my eyes the vivid dreams started, this was followed by chills, an ache in both knees and a mild fever. Still feeling pretty...
Had my second shot of Sputnik V this morning- I can't be sure, but I feel my arm aches less than last time. A vaccines go it was near to painless, just the usual short sharp scratch. Strict lockdown...
Final dose of Sputnik tomorrow-just as we are going into hard lockdown- bloody typical.

Half a sea bass and gambas al ajillo
Second round of Sputnik on the first weekend of April. Looking forward to it and hopefully more chance of a break from Mongolia for a couple of weeks. These lockdowns are doing my head in now.
It's been much better this year despite on and off stay at home orders and people burning more to stay warm. The government have provided briquettes to the ger district for less than the price of raw...
Yeah, I can read and understand most stuff. It seems like up to 14 days, but probably 3 is the best bet. I'm hoping for 3 days but am still pretty annoyed this happens on the birthday weekend.
I could do with some simple vodka recipes for drinks. I'm locked down stricter than ever and all I have left over from the lunar new year is a bottle of okayish local vodka. I can get basic mixers...
I awoke to find the compound I live on totally barricaded and sealed off from society by the police. Apparently there is a case of covid about. I'm not going anywhere for 14 days I guess.
A very mild elevated temperature on the evening of day one, aside from a slightly sore upper arm, I feel normal today in day 2. Some coworkers are still laid flat by it though.
Had my first dose of Sputnik and so far the worst side effect was tearing off the band-aid. Not even a sore arm today. I'll get the second done in April.
You're not wrong at all Cyrille. This is what I woke up to today in my work inbox. Almost put me off my coffee:

What a bunch of shit lol
Yeah, fellow English teachers, it's a little embarrassing to be honest. At the end of the day vaccines are for the benefit of others than the self. If this is what it takes to get classes back in...
Good news: Found a place
Even more good news: Will get my COVID vaccine free from work- I get to choose which one I want; Sputnik or Astra Zeneka
Bad news: I work with quite a few anti-vaxxer...
2 weeks to find a new apartment because the owner wants to sell up and move. Mongolian tenancy laws are lax.
I'll be getting the Sputnik vaccine later this week or early next week. Mongolia has allowed the private market to import the vaccine, not just the state. This seems to have got things moving pretty...
Spring is in the air here in Mongolia and I am using the long weekend to take full advantage of the surrounding hills and better weather.

Still online and I think it will remain this way until September. A lot of local anger from parents and those in education that we are second to last on the to be vaccinated list. I can tell my...
Lockdown ended here and the vaccination drive has started. For a variety of reasons, this last lockdown was hardest the both mentally and physically yet. Was grateful get get outside after 14 days of...
School reopening delayed as they government here wants to open karaoke and sauna first. I guess the MPs have missed their mistresses more than I thought.
Maybe in the next two weeks, but hard to say for sure.

I have a feeling this will be the closest I get to Thailand this year

Not that I know of, but there could well be. From the 1tth of this month until the 23rd they are going to barricade us into our compounds Wuhan style. Days are currently spent teaching remotely and...
Someone just ended it all by setting themselves alight in the main square. Apparently a businessman who had lost money due to these never-ending lockdowns.

That's one way to beat the traffic jams!
Apparently I will be back to face to face learning on March 1st. I have also been told that as a teacher I will be in the first group for vaccinations here, we'll be getting the Pfizer vaccine by the...
Wonderful thread and thanks for sharing with us. Far better morning coffee reading than the news at the moment.
The prison sentence should be far longer than five years. I honestly don't think nonces can be reformed.
Friends are reporting the two the the major phone networks are down, with only MTP still up and running. Internet providers have been spotty all day. They describe the atmosphere as being very tense.
Time to become an influencer!
Have about 100+ contacts in Myanmar on my FB friend list and they are all offline-looks like the internet may have been cut in other cities now too. I think this has the potential to become quite...

Steak came out well done, which is fairly standard here. It was surprisingly tender and well seasoned. It "Thai" style, it could have been a shade...
This time the late finishing meeting was on Microsoft Teams. Life is thrilling these days. Opted for Japanese (of sorts) tonight with a local beer. ...
Enjoy the freedom!
A new Korean fried chicken place opened up on my compound and decided that after a solid day and evening of zoom meeings that this would be a good day to check it out. ...
