A lot of good dive gear. All my gear was Poseidon, and Mares Fins:

I sold it all a couple of years ago, and it kept its price well, as it was top quality gear.
Oh Yeah, I generally avoided all black gear as I didn't wanna look like a seal... :)

It also depends what diving you intend on doing. I did some deep diving, strong current diving and diving in UK lakes during winter (snowing, sometimes the lakes covered in ice...), so I got gear that the Swedish navy use... If you're only gonna dive in Thailand/Malaysia doing shallow dives then you can buy the kinda gear that is on Davis' site; seems to be good gear for that kinda diving. Lots of good gear out there, spend as much as you can, imho.

A colleague of mine just finished his dive master course in Koh Tao which is the probably the best place to do Scuba in Thailand.

Three years ago we tried a couple of dives at Pattaya .
Lots of dubious stuff in cloudy waters and all I got from it was a severe ear infection which wiped me out for 3 weeks .

I'd have thought diving in Pattaya would be strictly for those straight off the plane.
Were you struck by the friendliness of the local girls shortly afterwards, by any chance?
