Anyone know any bars open tonight on Sukhumvit?
5th floor bulls head if you know the manager
If unlucky, not too far from suky, Roadhouse on Suriwongse 3rd floor - good bar too
Thank goodness I have taken a rain check
Shit just putting my drinking shoes on, was looking forward to a good night. Why will the bars close?
bangkok elections
That's the trouble with Thailand. You can't drink alcohol and have an erection.
It really is pathetic. Really pathetic. I have had a nice drink in the mia noi's really Thai area (On Nut), all with Thais, then the same in my area (Ratchada). Inbetween the two, the tourist areas, where none of the clientele are entitled to vote, are closed tightly shut.
As usual, the Thais can roll around as drunk as they like prior to casting their vote. Expat foreigers and tourists alike are disenfranschised and sober.
^ I get the impression in Bangkok they do it specifically to annoy the foreigners and foreign run establishments. All the Thai places up near me in the 'burbs are blatantly open as usual.
I'm having pizza and a nice bottle of Penfold's Chardonnay while watching the fitba though.
^Its hardly an auspicious event, given recent political manouverings...:mid:
The wine is Jacob's Creek BTW, not Penfolds.Quote:

Must have been pissed to elect any of that lot!!
^ minor point - Brown wasn't elected!
I dare say Wee Johnny Howard was better than this muppet the Aussies have in charge now though.
Other than that, carry on.
I am equally sure that the tourists, finding that the first two nights in Bangkok entailed closed bars and non-alcoholic restaurants and given the relative high cost of visiting here now, they would be pretty pissed off and not give a flying fuck about local elections.
Spot on! Thats exactly why they do it.Quote:

I went to Timba's, had a nice meal washed down with 3 or 4 beers and then on to my Thai local for some more drinks, business as usual as far as I was concerned.:)
Just arrived back home after being out with a few of the lads from the Pattaya Live forum on the darkside in Pattaya.
Called Buriramboy just to cheer him up as well being the nice chappy I am! :)
Nope, but I bet they will tonight. It's kinda normal that after being allowed to stay open on a night last night that the bib will be looking for a thank you drink.
