Suggestion re videos in the lounge & Members' only

When people post a link to a news article in Members, the Lounge or Issues, they usually copy & paste some (if not all) of the text, so, even if you don't want to click the link, you have an idea what the thread is about.

As I frequently moan, I'm on crappy dial-up & can't view videos. Yes, I could download them & watch them later, but it's not like it's just one video - there're loads posted everyday. It would take me forever.

Apart from music videos (which I assume are pretty self-explanatory), would anyone else find it useful or interesting to have a brief synopsis by the OP of what everybody else will be seeing? Does that spoil the fun of it for everyone else?

I just find it frustrating to click on an interesting thread title & find a Youtube (or whatever) link & nothing else. I can't be the only one on too slow a connection to view them... am I? :(

I hope you are using firefox - with the adblock and noscript extensions , they will make your dial up seem faster by only downloading and running what you approve.

but normally if a thread is just a video link to something and no description I will give it as much effort as the original poster - none - like fowarded emails

Agree with NR. A short description might help me decide if I want to spend the next 20 minutes downloading something.

Good thread NR: I'm on ADSL but I agree that the number of vid clips is overdone and like you I would like to see a brief idea of what's on it rather than just a posted link...

in fact i rarely bother to look at vids anyway. and i'm on ADSL
