Hi all, My original AXA travel insurance is about to run out so I am shopping around for a new policy for my wife and I.
I was hoping some of you long time locals could recommend a decent insurance company to cover the big money draining type stuff.

I’ve been purchasing mine from “The Viriyah Insurance”.
But haven’t ever had a claim so I don’t know about their service.
I've been with Pacific Cross since forever and my girl has been with them now for the better part of 15 years, we've both had medical treatments and had no problems with being able to just sign for the payments when leaving Hospitals. But, health insurance is a minefield and the policies/prices/exclusions vary dramatically depending on things like level of cover, age, current and past health, pre-existing conditions, and so on. No idea where you are in Thailand but is there a trusted broker in your area?
In Pattaya we have Insurance Pattaya | Macallan Broker Insurance Services ran by Jack Levy who's been here since the 90's, couldn't count the people here I know who use him to sort all their insurance needs out. Might be worth contacting him for advice and quotes if there's nobody to guide you where you are.
I am using AIA. I had it before I started work and that is what the company I work for offers so it was nice to keep it active. I will likely continue after I stop working. It's basic from what I can tell and I only used it for my bone chip in my foot surgery which was $26k bht and they paid 100%. Can't speak to major type events.

Bupa always worked well for me also. I'd recommend them.
