Greyhound Revisited

A busy morning shopping and then a quick lunch at Greyhound in Siam Center. Three appetizers: crispy wonton stuffed with crab, mushrooms and pork, calamari, and crab and corn fritters...only one main: sausage, cheese and mushroom stuffed crispy pancake. Dessert: buy one, get one free! Mixed berry cream cake pour moi and salted caramel deep chocolate cake pour lui. A reasonable cabernet to wash it all down...and then a brisk waddle to the skytrain station before the demonstrators shut it down...

^Mmm, that crispy pancake looks like a quesadilla. The dessert looks divine esp. the chocolate one. Expensive?

That's a lot of fried and greasy food there, TC . . . you're not getting any younger, but the Cabernet is a good equaliser. :smile:

that's very expensive for mediocre food, even by NYC or London standard

Greyhound has 2 or 3 dishes that are worth investigating, the rest is completely mediocre crap for snobby Thais and budget farangs

the Steak Salad, if they still have it, is really their best signature dish

and they have that nice Ancient Iced Lemon tea, a must try, no matter how overpriced it is at 60 THB for a small glass :)

I used to love visiting the Greyhound Cafe in Emporium. (if I remember correctly)

Salad in a bowl, I think it was. very nice.

dunno, im split here
like most i used to enjoy greyhound, it was consistent and had some good dependable dishes like the Tokyo soba
feel its got above itself and have stopped going as wasnt meeting teh same value as previously

the tapas place my kids loved has just done the same, and even shoshona over at Khao san has seen its prices creep up to almost sukhumwit levels (though lot less than Beirut)
sign of teh times i guess

...agree: though portions are smaller and prices are higher now. We stop in for lunch only if convenient now...
