Only 200 people to be allowed to enter country each day

The Foreign Affairs Ministry issued a statement saying not more than 200 people will be allowed to enter the country each day. The statement came after an order that planes would be prohibited from landing until April 18.


The number of 200 was decided upon after discussions between related agencies in order to systematically manage entry into the country and make appropriate arrangements for people entering, especially 14-day quarantine in specified areas.

Relevant Thai agencies are coordinating with embassies and the consulates-general to provide appropriate information, advice and assistance to Thais abroad.


The ministry said it would like to emphasise that the latest travel management rules are in accordance with the prime minister’s policies to tackle the spread of Covid-19.

...^^obviously a well-thought out plan: 175 would be too few, 250 way too many...

Presumably it was a committee decision...ten people using their fingers and toes...

But if all passenger planes are banned until the 18th??????????

The guy who lives in Germany flew in and out yesterday. Was here 19 or 20 hours.

Quite possibly the stupidest people on the planet.

They don't want more than 200 because after they've let them flee the airport it takes too long to round them up and quarantine them for 14 days.

They'll be jockeying for pole position on planes with >200 incoming, won't be any of this low seat numbers first.

Remember that not people don't only arrive in Thailand by plane, and if they're banned until April 18 then traffic from Cambo, Malaysia, Myanmar must be meant here

With dozens of land, sea and air borders htf do they keep track of overall daily incoming?

Reckon this is just another example of some goon buying himself a ministerial post, making what he likes to imagine might be a contribution to the war effort.

Exactly . . . are the various border crossings all over Thailand in constant communications with one another . . . there are over 20 land-border crossings (just looked it up) but many more sea-ports and the like . . .

Thai government prepares for Thai returnees


BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai government has prepared to receive Thai nationals returning from abroad by taking into consideration the number of returnees and Thailand’s capacity on communicable disease control.


Following the government’s decision to extend a ban on incoming flights to Thailand until April 18, to help contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the information has been spread on the media that the number of Thai nationals arriving from other countries will be limited to 200 passengers per day.


The Foreign Ministry clarified that the decision to restrict the number of Thai arrivals was made by a joint meeting of relevant government agencies to support the efficient management of inbound passengers and the government’s 14-day quarantine measure.


Different agencies have coordinated with Thai embassies and consulates-general to ensure that Thai nationals in their respective countries receive proper assistance. The authorities have integrated their work to manage Thai arrivals in accordance with the policy of Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha.


The Spokesman for the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, made clear that Thai people in other countries who wish to return home at this time must report to Thai embassies and prepare all required documents. The authorities will prepare facilities and personnel to look after them to prevent problems for all sides.
