Tuob - Traditional Cure for Covid-19???

Tuob is a Crbuano word, a dialect mainly used by people from Cebu which means to make oneself sweat by wrapping one's body in a blanket while on all fours above a pot of steaming boiled mixture of mixed herbs and salt, often to cure oneself of illnesses. Its closest Western counterpart is sauna. In theory, it supposedly heats the body to extreme high temperatures causing one to sweat-off toxins and kill the virus in the process.

This hasn't been proven by modern science, but traditional
healers are theorizing that this method could be effective against the virus.

Might be worth a try considering that they still haven't found a cure or vaccine for Covid-19.

Interesting hypothesis, but here where I am you don't need to create a "sauna" all that is needed is to go outside and do a bit of physical activity.
Its so bloody hot and humid that it replicates being in a sauna.
I suppose the herbs are missing but you could take some KFC with you to make up for it.

a) until it is proven by the scientific method, it's akin to voodoo, b) traditional healers are the vested interests in this case: chants, dances and beheading chickens are persuasive primarily to the poorly educated or merely poor...

Nothing wrong with a hot herbal sauna, clears the toxins out.
Tried a ginger sauna in Phuket once, then straight in the icy plunge pool after.
Doubt it would work on Covid but you never know..

My mom did that thing too when we were young and had colds/ runny nose - steam bath inside a blanket. There was a pot with hot water and herbs (usually lemon grass, twisted into a knot). Sometimes she put Vicks vaporub into the water if we didn't have lemon grass. We weren't on all fours, but doing the "Indian sit" - Indian meaning Native American. The objective was to clear your nasal passages, make you sweat and decrease your fever.

I don't know if it will work with Covid-19. Maybe yes, for those with mild symptoms. But for those who develop pneumonia, difficulty of breathing, need ventilator - then they need ICU. The docs may prescribe some meds but it's basically your own body fighting the infection.

I saw this yesterday - a 24 y.o. Filipina doing her masteral degree in Berlin got it, and has recovered since. She got her results 3 days after going to the hospital. She had mild symptoms only. It's in Taglish, but you'll be able to understand some of it.

Experience of a 33 y. o. healthy Italian man was very different - he had to be intubated. Said at first he didn't believe in the hype, that he was safe from it bcos he was young, and then he got seriously ill. Saw this few days ago. Interview with English subtitles.

So it does the same thing you body would naturally do when it goes into a fever state to fight sickness.
That's just natural healing with extra steps.

Thai women do a similar thing after having a baby. They believe it helps to heal their insides quicker.

Hmm, not sure that would help get rid of the damp.

In PI, old folks used this method when they catch a cold, have a flu, or feeling under the weather. This process heats the body more than the sauna does and based on experience, makes me sweat much more.

It's handy to have soups, broths and porridge ready when doing this, as the process itself releases loads of body fluid.

I think you will have to post up step by step pictorial instructions grace.

True, but if you think about it, you're mimicking the body's natural reaction against diseases in a much more aggressive way, subjecting the body to extreme temperatures. Some believe that the tuob process must be repeated 3 times in a2 to 3-day interval.
