UK: Manchester Arena - Explosion, Fatalities

Just on news here. Explosion at concert in Manchester Arena. Videos show many police, ambulances. Greater Manchester Police say "There are a number of Fatalities".

Currently what police seem to be saying is that the explosions may have been part of the act and that the dead and injured were caused by panic - still very little news coming out. People I know who were there said lights were already on when the explosion happened so not a planned part of the show gone wrong.

I know two girls from my daughters class and their mum's at that concert tonight.

I'm reading it was a nail bomb, mind you it was a Sun reporter said that. I've never heard of this Arianna Grande who was playing at the concert but apparently most of the audience was kids and teenagers.

Horrible......

Those 20 are bound to be teenage kids. I know one song she sang. Would sound pretty callous if i said what it was.

Luckily the family's I know have got back safe.
The explosion was in the foyer at the end of the concert when people were leaving.
Some witnesses saying it was some balloon exploding.
I wouldn't rule out panic causing some fatalities.
Bomb disposal on site now.

You don't have to listen to pop music to know who Ariana Grande is! Just read the news over the last decade or so. I read just yesterday she was pipped at the post for some music award by a K-pop boy band.

First rule of news, almost everything reported in the immediate aftermath of a major event is false :(

Absolutely tragic, and with young people being the obvious targets. Incidents like this only stoke the fires of anti Muslim (yes, an assumption) sentiment, which then rolls into anti immigrant of any nationality or faith. It feeds prejudice and deeply affects the Muslim community, who are overwhelmingly peace loving and integrated into UK society.

Just watching the reports coming in. The explosion happened at the end of the concert in the foyer leading to outside.
Witnesses reported seeing a lot of nuts and bolts on the floor after the blast, indicating shrapnel packed to the bomb.
19 People confirmed dead, and at least 50 injured. Many injuries from stampeding due to panic.

Terrible news. A concert for kids, ffs.

Absolutely horrific.
