What is the best route to drive from CM to CR?
What kind of best? Best for scenery or best for ease?
Fastest, easiest is 188 (Doi Saket Rd.) to Hwy. 1 and hang a left. Takes you right into CR town. Three hours.
If looking for scenic and have lots of time, go the back way 107 to Fang, up to Mai AI and Mae Fa Luang.
Roads are well marked. No problems finding your way.

School holidays, family vacation. My daughters have been to CM, but never CR. Driving from Udon.
Yes I also agree the 118 it is a good journey enjoyable route.

And the best route depends on your point of view :)
Personally for me, the best route takes you via Fang and the tribes.
you can get fancy and skirt around the city via doi tung, but you need to drive agressively to make it worthwile time wise
