from which Embassy?
if from the US Embassy it is very easy to do.
either make and appointment on-line with the American Services section of the US Embassy in Bangkok or go to one of the US Embassy "Outreach" sessions that are scheduled at various locations throughout the country during the year.
once at the US Embassy or at the "outreach" session, fill out the standard form letter, do not sign.
sign in front of the US Embassy official and they will notarize your signature.
Pay the $50/$55 dollars and your done.
I think this process can also be accomplished up at the consulate in Chiang Mai also but not aware of the process for that location.

Err, perhaps best to nail this now.
A Retirement extension is obtained under Order of the Royal Thai Police No 777/2551 Section 2.22 which lists the three ways in which that can be achieved:
1. A monthly income of 65,000 bt confirmed by the applicant's consular representative in Thailand by way of a letter. ( US citizens need to only make a declaration to obtain this but most others need to show the consulate evidence of income entering a bank account.)
2. A sum of 800,000 bt deposited in a Thai bank account in the applicant's name which is confirmed by a letter from the bank dated within 24 hours of the application and the relevant bank book, which sum has to have been seasoned for 3 months or in the case of the first extension application for 2 months.
3. A combination of the above yielding a minimum total of 800,000 bt as evidenced by both the applicant's bank and a consulate letter.

he checks out all your letters, docs, bank statements etc
his staff go to the British embassy wed morning to present, go back on friday to pick up letter confirming proof of income
total cost to key visa - 300 baht
can't complain about that
did my visa yesterday, no probs, all done for another year

Nothing on their website about this service, does sound worth it though.
Find the section on Visas and if you don't find your answer, write the newsletter editor. The American consulate comes to Pattaya 4 times a year. Next visit is September 12th. You can get a letter then.

Gave them proof of income and handed over 2070 baht.
Picked up the letter in the afternoon.
Friday, in and out of Immigration in ten minutes. (11 actually.)

I downloaded my banking payments.
I also had the original paperwork of monies that I would be receiving!

I receive an english pension and an Australian pension I guess its the same procedure allthough I would think they could get the information off of their own computers is anybody out there in teakdoor land doing the same thing and can give any advice
