Anyone know?
They are teamed up with the crooks at True internet. They probably did not pay what was due and got cut off. True is notorious for over promising and then not delivering.
Don't know why they got rid of it but I knew it was going today.
One of my staff said that it has gone to another provider called Grammy? I didn't know that they provided a television service.
Anyway, my guy is looking into it tomorrow so I'll report back on what he finds.
No notice! Just vanished, put some lame crap in place. I was thinking cause I live in a dirty little village that it was only my service cut off.
The sports schedule had it's last game game on at 10am this morning.
Edit: Sorry yesterday morning.
That's it for NHL games in Thailand then. :(
WhoTheF is Grammy? They say they might pick up ASN on 8 October? This is a new sat provider in BKK? This is bad... This will affect all the Pubs too. Astronomical porportions this move.
They're a Music company. I'd not heard about their television stuff.Quote:

Yep you've been screwed if you only got ubc for that channel.
I tried to ring them yesterday about it and the girl asked me for my customer number. I said that I couldn't remember it and she said "No problem, wait one second sir."
Then the bitch pressed a button and it switched me to a computer that asked me to key my customer number onto the key pad.
It was a classic fob off.
arrrgh some people generate revenue from watching live sport venues. I had it too good too be true. I paid my local sat expert (uncle toag) good baht for ubc. but he has vanished. hehehehahahahohoho anyway will find a way, have internet 3 outa 7 days a week.
ThaiVisa has a thread going with links. It looks like Grammy has the Thai rights to ASN and will be launching a satellite tv provider this month called 1sky tv.
They couldn't launch a tea bag into a cup of hot water.
Launching, sounds expensive and Political...
Mondays and Tuesdays are open now, gonna affect Leo Beer sales too.
Sure glad I did not believe their rip off bullshit about hi def for free. Cheap assholes this one is really going to bite them.
what kind of idiots pay for TrueVision here ? the Platinum package ? a sucker born every minute here, no wonder the bar girls are having a field day
I don't understand what all the fuss is about, it's not as if you're missing any proper sports, is it?
:)
Haven't been there in months, and only found it through a Google search. If I did start going there again it would prolly only take a few days to get banned. :)Quote:

I called True this am and complained like fok! The chick in 'customer service' who speaks English btw, had patience with my ranting but basically told me the NFL and college games for this season are gone...
WTF is the point of complaining to True? They got out bid, so someone else has the contract. There's fuck all they can do now. If they notice a big dip in revenues, then they'll either have to bid more next time or try and get another channel or two.
Either way, it's good news, because it should end up with increased choice.
We had the same in the sandpit with the footy, Abu Dhabi sneaked in a massive bid and grabbed it from Showtime (Dubai).
It ended up with Showtime going out and getting Championship footy, Rugby, Cricket and lots of other stuff, so now we have a much bigger selection as a result.
Woke up Saturday morning feeling really good. Time for some American University football on UBC. Followed by a Sunday feast of American University Football and then the super bowl of all superbowls an all day feast of NFL football on Monday, with Monday Night NFL football on Tuesday morning. A four day "orgie," of football.
Not to be had! Seems UBC's contract with ASN (All sports Network) came to an end last Friday. Using their noteworthy intelligence they decided not to renew this contract. Reasoning, costs have risen.
I took it when they cancelled Entourage and Dexter, but to cancel NFL football is downright sacrilegious. How does one do without a weekly injection of good old body slamming American Football? Don't tell me to watch the Rugger's as that's just not enough action or reason to shoot the screen out of your television set. I enjoy rugby and its cauliflower eared warriors, but it just isn't the arena type macho crap of the NFL in all their armor padding and helmeted glory.
Oh well I have labored long enough about my addiction so in closing I must say this. I have cancelled my subscription to UBC. No American football, no me.
Now begins the search for a option service that supplies "American Football." Anyone out there using an alternative service for viewing of American football?
Sorry please don't inundate me with Soccer or that version known as English Premier League football. I tried to watch it, but I just can't take 90 minutes of "keep away."
Heh...heard it called a few different things but "keep away" is spot-on!
Before ASN I was watching those 'keep-away' games on the HD channel only because of the clarity of the picture. Used to go to those games at Maracana Stadium when I lived in Rio and it's fun in person but on the 'telly'? About the same as watching NHL live vs the tube. The thrill don't run up my leg...:mid:
Yea, Thai satellite is shit and I am pissed. I have sent an email which no doubt will turn out a waste of effort. I have heard of a Grammy? something that is supposed to replace ASN. No details yet and probably just a waste of time.
But then again I can remember when getting Discovery or NG was a big deal...
My wife is happy. Now it seems as I have no excuse but to set at the breakfast table to eat instead of my 'man chair' every weekend watching UFC or American football.
Suck my dick True! And yes my email has been sent.
Showtime is not True. They want to spend the least and make the most. Stupid fucks they are they offered it on the silver package and told me to downgrade last year. Then I would lose all the documentary channels the whole family likes. Really a fucked up money hungry company.Quote:

The point of complaining to True is they fed a lot of folks the line we'd get NFL & College Football etc and sucked in subscriptions for that package. At a minimum, that's false advertizing.
People in the North-East do as well.Quote:

That's business mate, it's not just True who are susceptible to sports content bidding wars.
And if they find that jacking ASN and losing a few subscriptions ends up costing them money, then they'll look at something else.
If they find they were paying fortunes for it just to please a handful of seppos and have actually come out in front, then forget it.
:)
You might need a bigger dish, but they aren't that expensive.

I'll miss the NFL on ASN, but I miss the free UFC feed even more- that was a great bonus to having the channel.
I still get a streamed satellite feed from New York (look into a Sling Box or Vulkano) so I won't miss anything, but I liked the option of watching a taped game with no commercials.
NFL Live on TV
The NFL will be shown live on new Grammy Sport ASN Channel from this Saturday.
Grammy sports managing director Kobkiat Sangwanich said yesterday the first NFL match on Grammy Sport ASN will be aired at 1am on Saturday night (Sunday Morning)
The Channel can be viewed via 1SKY box for free during a three month trial period.
For further information call 1SKY at 02-841-8888

Righto here's a load of blurb....
From the Nation: (Bit fucking Pricey!)Quote:
Having left TrueVisions for its new home, the NFL touches down for its first live broadcast on the Grammy Sport-ASN channel at 1am this Saturday night/Sunday morning, and gridiron fans in Thailand can watch the full regular season for free by simply switching to a 1-SKY Set Top Box (STB).
Kobkiat Sangwanich, managing director of Grammy Sport, announced that after signing a contract with ASN for live broadcast of the NFL, UFC-Ultimate Fighting, Nascar, NHL, NCAA and many other sports, Grammy Sport is now ready to broadcast to all American sports fans on the Grammy Sport-ASN channel through 1SKY-Smart STBs.
"This time, Grammy will beam their services through the C-Band [and KU-Band by January 2012]. Following huge feedback from Thai fans and foreigners interested in NFL, Grammy Sport is pleased to announce they can watch their favourite ASN channel for free during a 3-month trial starting October 8. However, in accordance with a contract that limits the broadcast territory to Thailand, viewers must use Grammy STBs. For more information, viewers can contact the 1SKY call centre at (02) 841 8888."
Kobkiat added that Grammy Sport will live broadcast all qualifying rounds, followed by reruns in the afternoon and evening so that NFL fans don't have to miss a single match. Then come live broadcasts of the play-offs in January followed by the Super Bowl on February 6.
"The NFL coverage is part of our ‘Grammy Sport, Anyone Can Watch' during the first six-month launch period of the channel. We guarantee that all fans will be able to watch their favourite sports non-stop and get their money's worth. Aside from NFL, Grammy Sport will also televise the popular mixed martial arts Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and famous Nascar auto racing. Stars of the future will also be on display in the top college-level sporting events."
Thailand-based highlights on GMM Sport-ASN in November and December include the country's biggest car racing events - the Bangsaen Speed Festival 2011 and Super Car Thailand. These will also be beamed to 11 other Asian countries.

GMM Grammy expects 1.5 million of its 1 Sky set-top boxes to be sold in the first year and that at least Bt2.5 billion will be generated following the launch of its broadcasting-platform service this November.
The service will be operated by 1 Sky Multimedia, a new GMM Grammy subsidiary set up with registered capital of Bt100 million.
The 1 Sky set-top box will be offered in three models. The Standard model will be available in November, with the platform allowing customers to access pay-per-view (PPV) services as well as free-to-air channels from Bt1,500 monthly per box.
The other two, to be launched later, are the Easy model at Bt500 monthly for free-to-air channels and Genius HD at Bt2,500 for high-definition channels.
Customers can plug all three models into C and KU Band satellite dishes.
Vilasinee Chivanond, managing director of 1 Sky Multimedia, yesterday said the number of subscribers is projected to hit 334,000 by the end of next year, followed by 459,000 in 2013 and 584,000 in 2014.
Premon Pinskul, chief financial officer of GMM Grammy, said revenue would come from sales of set-top boxes, subscriptions, sponsors and advertising, and PPV services.
The company expects to generate Bt2.5 billion in the first year, 45 per cent of which will be from sales of set-top boxes, 32 per cent from subscriptions and 23 per cent from PPV, sponsorship and ads.
"These revenue proportions will change in the next three years. Subscriptions will [eventually] take the lion's share of 60 per cent, while sales from set-top boxes will drop to 27 per cent," he added.
To achieve this ambitious goal, the company has invested about Bt2.1 billion on content development. This comprises Bt650 million for imported entertainment and family content, and Bt1.5 billion for the licensing of overseas sports events.
Additionally, the company will allocate Bt100 million for marketing promotion to build brand awareness of 1 Sky until the end of next year. The promotion will be conducted on various platforms, from mass media to dealers and business partners.
Premon said the company next year would add five channels at a cost of at least Bt500 million.
Paiboon Damrongchaitham, chairman of GMM Grammy, said: "Now we have shifted our focus on expansion into a leading broadcasting-platform provider, after GMM Grammy has emphasised for the last 28 years media and entertainment content production and provision."
He said the revenue contribution from new business was expected to hit 28 per cent and generate a margin of about 35 per cent by 2014, with average annual growth of 12 per cent from this year's estimate of just 2 per cent.
