Were it not for the waves of green, clinking beer bottles, you’d think the hundreds of inert ­bodies strewn along the shore had washed up dead.

If parents for a moment believe their 19 somethings are any less wild
than they were at that age, they are on glue, for the last decade.

I'm glad these young production line Clones, utterly devoid of imagination, have their own dedicated 'backpacker' or '18 - 30's' resorts scattered around the globe- it makes them easy to avoid.

Business is business I guess, but it is a bit of a shame that many of the places they infest were once very nice indeed. Thats progress I suppose, there are still plenty of nice places to go fortunately- and they might stay that way as long as Lonely Planet et al aren't told about them.

I think you're missing the point BOBR. These articles are not levelled at old Thai hands. They are levelled at parents of middle class kids back in the UK. If my daughter was going to Thailand I'd ask her to skip the Full Moon parties and why? Then it would be up to her and there's probably nothing more I could do. I do however know there are victims EVERY time.
Its not the sex and the boozing that would be my main concern. Its the near fatal and fatal incidents and then there are the official extortions.
