President signs off on castration law

Polish President Lech Kaczynski has signed into law the compulsory chemical castration of some sex offenders.

The practice has been tried in other countries, but usually on a voluntary basis.
According to its politicians, Poland now has the severest legislation towards paedophiles in Europe.
Under the law adults convicted of raping a child under the age of 15 or committing incest will be forced upon release to take drugs to reduce their libido.
The practice is commonly referred to as chemical castration.
The Polish law was drafted following a high profile case last year, in which a 45-year-old man repeatedly raped his daughter and fathered two children by her.

Seems fair.

This is too expensive to enforce. Why not cut their balls off and be done with it. My dog seems more happy since that was done to him, and his only crime was pissing on my car tires. Besides, sex offenders should be sterilized so they do not have children and pass on their defective genes or abuse their own children.

Courts have never found an innocent being guilty before. :mid:

Dunno exactly where I stand on this issue, on balnace I feel that chemical castration is not a bad thing

People might actually wish to peer past the sensationalism of the word 'Castration' when used in reference to libido reducing drugs.

Prolly too much to ask of some mind.

For once there Chairman, I do whole heartedly agree with you,, a knife does not change the libido of someone past puberty, which the chemical is supposed to do.

Are you sure of that? If you sterilize by cutting the passage off you are right. But if you castrate, that is remove the balls it should make a major difference in the hormonal balance.

This is a question, I am not sure.

My problem with using the chemical treatment is that it is not safe. The subject can go into hiding and avoid the treatment this way. Unfortunately it is not a one off treatment but needs to be applied continuously to remain effective.

Maybe a stupid question, but would drugs like viagra not counteract these drugs that the patients have to take thus making it all pretty pointless???

Not really, but I am familiar with animals and if you cut them young then they have no libido and are not going to try to breed, Will be of a milder temperament,, and do not take on the physical characteristics of the un-neutered males.
But if left til later and have started to develop as a standard animal and then you cut them, they still have some ideas about breeding and will be trying to do it and with the same temperament as they would have had if they had not been cut.

But then again, I am of the school that they should never be turned loose on society again either.

Country members of the EU cant even fart these days without the OK from their maters in Brussels so I am surprised that it has been signed into Polish Law, personaly I doubt if this chemical castration issue will ever become a reality.

I think they need both the mindset and the sexdrive. If you take away the drive they should be much less dangerous.

There's evidence to suggest this wont work in all cases.

1. They have to take it forever. They are unlikely to.

2. Pedophile behaviour is more than just libido. It is based in the emotional and psychological background of the individual. So, they might not be sexually active, but their minds are still damaged and the sadistic or sadomasochistic elements of child sex abuse will still be very much alive and seeking expression. There are many ways to abuse.

So, it's another weapon in the struggle to deal with this, but it isn't a solution.

I agree, I seldom red. I only resort to it if given one by someone else first.

Back to the thread. It seems that the pervert is going to have to take his meds all his life, something that will be difficult to control. The movie One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, comes to mind. A lobotomy, followed up with physical casteration, could solve the problem of having to take meds.

The insect would be a perfect test subject, as the world does not need to keep reproducing his defective DNA.

Hmm... all I can think of is a very hot and very developed 14 year old I dated when I was 18. I had the good sense not do do what seemed natural - still surprised about it now actually, given how dumb I was at 18... but it was close, and stuff could have happened.

Still think the age limit is good but the punishment should be a bit different from kiddie lovers. There's a difference between "but she told me she was 16" and perverts who prey on children.

Personally I think the perverts should be made to slide down the edge of a very big razor using their prick for a brake

Nice, you can sympathize with the relaives calling for harsher punishments...

I saw a documentry on Channel 4 many years ago where a repeated sex offender who was disgusted 'even' with himself (a rarity I'm sure) asked the govenrment to cut off his balls.
They checked on him regularly and he had never reoffended. This proceedure can also cause problems medically. The guy said that this he could live with, not being able to stop hurting kids he couldn't cope with. He said that he had no sex drive whatsoever any more and that he felt that he'd wished he would have had this done many yrs ago..It would've saved many children their childhoods.

Maybe it wouldn't work for all but if the 'patient/criminal' is willing then why not give it a shot. better than being in the nick for the rest of your life and the thought of never reoffending..

difficult issue for sure....nail em' up can only work for so long...doesn't stop the problem..only for that individual.

It is a proven fact that the death penalty does stop them from killing ever again, But will castration stop them from abusing children? I really do not think it is just a sex thing.

Didn't catch this thread first time around. I'm not sure how I feel about this. A large part of me thinks 'serves them right', but there is part of me that's worried. I'm sure Strontium Dog will tell me I'm wrong, but I'd always been under the impression that rape was more due to the man wanting to feel powerful, rather than an urge for sex per se. What worries me, is, if such a man can no longer get an erection, and so cannot rape using his penis, what damage might he cause by using other objects?
Chemical castration might do nothing but create a whole new breed of sickos. :(

Could just give them life sentences as in life meaning life, but that would just be too simple i guess.
