Problems with the internet got me wondering about who uses what ISP, so I thought I'd start a poll.
You can vote for more than one option and it is a public poll.
Sorry if I missed an option.

There was only 10 options for the poll, so I had to stick with the main ones.
I use TT&T ADSL but used to use ToT ADSL. Before that it was Pacific Internet 1222 dial up.
There's not been any difference between the two ADSLs that I have noticed but I've only been using TT&T for a week.
The daft thing was, I thought I was getting a ToT line in the new house (ones that start with a 3 in Phuket), but got a TT&T line (it starts with a 2). Also daft was that after I went to the ToT office to sign up and told them my number, they didn't notice that it wasn't a ToT line number! So on my final trip to the office with all the paperwork needed to get the installation started (copies of IDs, passport, tabien baan, etc), the woman said "This is a TT&T number". F***! F***! F***! We discussed options for a while - she even offered a free line installation - but was unsure if their ADSL would work so far south in Phuket.
So, off to the TT&T office, all done and signed up in 5 minutes. Just a copy of my passport taken, form filled out, appointment made for the following Monday and 3 days later I was up and running.
I use MaxNet4Home 512/256. I think it's about 700 baht per month. I'm located in Muang Korat.
I am, for the most part, very satisfied with the throughput. There were some rough weeks at first, but they seem to have the bandwidth problems sorted out and I consistently get decent upload and download times.
Sometimes things bog down when the kiddies are out, but this has proved to be pretty rare.
I have been using True ADSL for about 2 years now and I confirm what has been said on many forums and by many people, True gave the True meaning to ADSL: Advanced Disconnecting Shit Line...
I have CSLox and I am pretty happy with it. For 600 baht a month, and a 256Kbit line, I still get 1Mbit on International FTP, but the web stuff is kind of normal speed for here (80kps). Ok for mail and forum browsing I guess.
I have had TRUE for about 2 years, it never disconnects but. But and this is a big, but, it slows up for me about 7pm and never gets back into gear until after I am fast asleep.
I like the summers because I can post earlier. Not as much work.
But when you're not disconnected, it works well.
Dry season is more or less ok, rainy season is not.
Do not ask me the reason since I have no idea why the rain and the thunderstorm have any effect on the stability of the connection.
A practical example, today there was some thunderstorm on Sukhumvit area and I was losing the connection every few seconds.
It's gone, the connection is now stable.
Its your connection for the phone. Its getting wet, or surging due to the lightening. Pretty sure on that as I had damn near the same problem, but only with the pnone.
Maybe but anyway I'm afraid not much I can do about it.
After having called True service center about a hundred times in the past few years, I gave up.
Calling them, that is, but still makes me pretty angry when the line disconnects in the middle of a download, a chat, whatever...
I'd be pissed off as well. Call and speak to a manager, get it sorted out mate, it can be done. Getting a Thai to help is good, but only if they fully understand the problem and are on your side. Good luck.
Next time it rains and the ADSL gets crummy or disconnected, pick up the telephone, dial 1 (to stop the dial tone) and listen. You should have dead quiet. If you hear static, hiss or any kind of popping sound then you need to have the phone wiring repaired or replaced. Trouble is, you don't know where along the wire the problem lies.
If you have noise on the line it can cause your modem to lose synchronization with the modem on the other end and drop the connection.
Thats the point it aint your problem its the providers. If it happened back where you live you would not go my pen rye, Dont do it here.Quote:

It aint in their nature.
Anyway, if nothing works I still have the option of changing from True to ?
But will it help?
It would help if you changed to ToT or CSLox. Because they would put a new line in for you, so that would hopefully fix the problem with your line.Quote:

When the stupid twats send me a bill, I pay 1200 a month. In theory a little more expensive than True, but they are over-subscribed, so I reckon it's worth paying a little more for a better service. Also, my phone line is ToT, so I didn't need to change it to use CSLox.
The rainy season is back.
Good, temperature will go down a bit.
Bad, True gets wet...
I just got upgraded to a 44kbs TOT connection, bill still pending.
I was pretty happy with Maxnet@home512 for the last 4 month, but it really sucks since 1 week. I've read that it's due to the rainy season, sad news.
P2P is unusable with Azureus and worked fine before.
P2P is working fine again after two dry days, funny.
I am using GPRS, for the cost and the ability do use it anywhere out-weigh the problems with speed.
Generally I am only interested in test, so speed often is not too much of a problem
God love 'em the Thais are kinda cute when they try and get technical. Running the coms cabling over the local barbed wired fences may save a few bucks but...Quote:

What it boils down to is amateurism. you see it in all walks of life here It's not just Thailand but it does seem to be prevelant in tropical climes The lack of proffessionalism in every aspect of industry or business here boggles the mind.
The ol' lady gets tired of hearin I know,
But I gotta tell at least once a week "You're all a buncha amateurs!"
Mai phen rai. Noh?
I get GoW going on about how lazy the Thais are. Stick a sock in it...Quote:
